applying to change username - should I?

Hello ponies. Don't know where to put this, so I went with OT.
I've been debating on this for years, actually.
I use the name Shaiyeh EVERYWHERE on the internet; dA - Shaiyeh, Etsy - Shaiyeh, Youtube, iShaiyeh, DoA - Shaiyeh and so on.
I've had people commission me in the past, going "oh, so YOU'RE Shaiyeh?! Great, 'cause I wanted to commission Shaiyeh and here you are...".

Thing is, I've been here for 6 years now, under the name miss_tuneful. I guess most people that actually remember me (I honestly don't know how many of you do, I'm a scarce poster), remember the name miss_tuneful.

for me, the best thing would be to be the same name everywhere. People even call me Shaiyeh IRL.
So I'd like to change my username.
Question is, should I? Because of the reasons I've stated - you all here know me as miss_tuneful, and I've been around for a long while.
I need input on this. halp!

When you change your username you need to run a "formerly known as..." identifier in your signature anyway plus I dont know about others but often I id people by avi or signature before I look at their username so maybe if you keep your current "style" for several months after a username change that will help to.

Personally I think its whatever you are comfortable with - I know I go by the same username anywhere pony - because thats "who I am" in this community if you like...and it makes log ins much easier and saves on any confusion!

I know I've seen people who've changed their names and have a little blurb on the bottom under their signature that says "formerly miss_tuneful," except of course with their name! And Shaiyah blends in less- miss_tuneful has always made me think of Tuneful. It's not exactly confusing, but I always connect you both in my mind.
I think changing names would be less confusing for you and since lots of people know Pony People on other sites, it would make sense. Go for it! If it is horrible, you can change back.
And remember, a rose by any other name would still make beautiful art!

Hathorcat - yeah, I would of course put "formerly miss_tuneful" in the siggie if I did it.. and not change ava/sig. I almost never do anyway xD it gets so confusing when people change avas, I know people from avas before name, too.

Aurora - thanks for your input. I should have done this a couple years back when I started thinking about it, because it'd have been less confusing for everyone else.
I'll see if I get more input on this like yours, if it'd be way too confusing for everyone, I'm not changing. It's not a horrible name. I just try to make a name for myself as Shaiyeh (bit by bit, hah), so I think it'd be a good idea to have that name as much as possible.

I agree with hathorcat and Aurora, if I were you I'd definitely go on and change (I'm also this "use the same name wherever possible"-type), and include my former username in my signature.

It's up to you but you should be the name you are most comfortable being I think.

I say go for it^^ People here will get used to the new name. I used to go by KristynLioness everywhere until 2006 when I started going by Koudoawaia. It was also a very different name change but people got used to that too.

We've had lots of longtime members change their username over time We change and grow, and often our usernames we picked 5 years ago don't fit us anymore.

It would personally confuse me for the first little bit, since I know you as you--whether you post frequently or not-- but it should be more then fine as long as you keep the formallly known as but in your sig <3

If you feel that Miss-tuneful is no longer "you" anymore, then go ahead and change it.  I though about changing mine too since my persona is named Midnight Sun but eh, I've been tikibirds since 1998 and the enchanted tiki room is STILL my fav disney attraction...
