the bait was a nirvana?!
« on: June 27, 2012, 03:14:39 AM »
Ok, I'd probably need some advice ...
A friend of mine bought some baits to me over the net, the photo was not very big and there were several ponies in each photo as it was difficult to see certain details well. We chose a few baits and bought them, and among them was a Gusty.
A few days ago we got baits so we could look at them and when I saw Gusty, I was shocked ... she had green eyes! Gusty normally have blue eyes. I recently read about different Gustys because I got one in a lot I bought so I knew immediately that it probably was a UK or a Scandinavian Gusty, I had problems, however, to identify her further when her body is covered in poorly painted white color so her symbols are gone. The seller said that she thought the symbol was glittery .... that would mean Gusty was Scandinavian.
When I get time I'll remove the white sticky paint and see if she has type cancer or something ... But I do not know what to do with her since ... both symbols and the hair is gone, only the eyes remain so even if I restore her not much going to be very original anymore ...
What do you think? I will restore her? half restore her and half customize her to a reversal Gusty? customize her fully?

A half restore, with reverse hair would be cool.

Eh it happens.  Is it even worth restoring when the only thing you have to commend it as a gusty is the one lone eyeball?
"How much for the horse tornado?"
"Sir, that's a carousel."
"I must have it!"

Actually, she still have both her eyes, not one^^;
and she is still white, well maybe a bit off white, there is only one white unicorn in that pose and thats gusty...well that isn't some obscure nirvana atleast...

In either case, no matter what, if I restore or customize, she will still need about the same mount of work and materials.

It could go either way.  If you don't want to restore her, I imagine someone in the nirvana forum might be willing to trade you a few non-Nirvana baits for her or some such?

I would restore her. So what if it's not all-original? She'll be beautiful when she's back to her normal self!

I have been leaning towards restoration but I have heard people thinking it's useless to restore her since I cant know 100% that she was a real Scandinavian....so I'm still unsure of what to do...
I just know I gotta do something, I'll show you how miserable she looks.

It's never useless to restore, especially if you enjoy it, and/or the pony is uncommon.

She looks like she will come out lovely.

One thing I have wondered is a "Nirvana" still a "Nirvana" if you live in the country where the pony was sold in stores? Like for example people in Greece or Italy? Are US ponies "Nirvanas" for them?

Good question...I have wondered a bit about that to but I think so, even if it would be more common in the land it is from, it still dont change the total numbers of  its kind...but then again, Im not that knowledge able about Nirvanas...I dont really own any thats really concidered nirvanas, I only got europe exclusives...

I think Gusty would look fabulous if you'd restore her! Who knows what's hiding under all that paint!

(If US ponies were considered Nirvana's to European pony peeps, then commons would be worth so much more... I might be able to get rid of my 6 extra Parasol's, LOL.)
