G4 Twilight Sparkle Costume
« on: June 22, 2012, 09:26:50 PM »
Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this is the right place for this... but figured it was cause it is an original made by myself.

Anyways :) I was commissioned by spinky69er to design and sew her a Twilight Sparkle cosplay costume. I made a tail, a headband with ears and horn and a symbol.

The tail was made with satin and stuffed and has belt loops at the base. The headband I made a cover for and attached the ears and horn by hand. They were made with faux fur and also stuffed. The symbol was made with felt and glued together.

I drafted the pattern myself and everything was made by me.

She wore it to a my little pony birthday party and was very happy :D It was my first ever commission and I'm pretty proud of it, especially since it was my first draft.

Here are pictures :)

Spinky modelling the costume. :) (posted with permission)

Hope you all like it. Btw - where is the best place to post commissions? I posted a thread in sales forum but I'm not sure if that's the right place.

Thanks ya'll!  :good:

Very nice job!  Did you top stitch the different color sections on the tail?

Thanks spinky, I'm so happy you like it :)

Thank you Lavender Lace :) I sewed the sections together then top stitched. Actually your question has given me an idea of a way to sew the tail which is a bit easier. :D lol

Haha cool!  Glad to help! :P  (inadvertently!)  I sew a lot and have made many costumes, that's why I asked.  :)  You could do machine applique for the different stripes as well.  That might be easier.  It all depends on what you want the finished product to look like.  I'd do a strait stitch under the zigzag stitch if you do it that way for stability and to prevent fraying, especially with satin and the like.  I really like how you did the original though!
