g1 pinwheel stick variant in colors..?
« on: June 22, 2012, 08:50:30 AM »
I just finished cleaning up a g1 pinwheel I acquired in a lot that had some mail order ponies in it and I know pinwheel was offered as a mail order so now Im wondering if the Pinwheel I got in this lot was a mail order version since her stick colors don't seem to appear the purple shade as my other...

my other pinwheel to me is more mint in my eyes because her pinwheels have more glitter ...
Im thinking the body shades of these two gals seem a bit different pink as well
both are marked Hong Kong

my old pinwheel who appears to have a true purple sticks

these sticks appear purple

but the girl I just finished cleaning right next to my old pinwheel for side by side comparision seems to have blue sticks

another comparision because I know Im not crazy here...

my eyes cant be lying to me,tell me Im seeing blue on one of these gals...

the blue one seems to have some glitter loss to the pinwheels which I wish I knew how to fix...and when I compared the two girls I wasn't going to keep her until I noticed her sticks were blue and then it dawned on me she must of been a mail order....

but when I did research the sites told me the mail order came with purple sticks, are the sites wrong? what is up with my blue sticks here?

I noticed this too when I got a lot with nothing but mail order collector ponies, and rainbows in it. I have pinwheel MOC and MIP and one with completely dark blue sticks that don't match either, but they are closer to the MO one. My mail order ones are also bright hot pink. One thing about the mail order Yr3 rainbows, their glitter is not sparkly. And in some cases doesn't even look like glitter. But having these ponies MOC/MIP, even those don't have nice glitter:/

So from my experience, I'd say the site is wrong. Purple is regular, blue/less glitter=mail order. Hope this helps!

As purple has a terrible tendency on ponies to become blue over time, I have always been a little sceptical on the colour of Pinwheels sticks if I am honest re MO or Store Bought.

However, I agree with Wysteria that its the glitter that sets MO with Store Bought apart...MO Rainbows can sometimes look like they have non glitter glitter on them [that sounds odd but its like something has been added to the symbol as per normal glitter ponies but the finish isnt as shiny or sparkly].

Wow I didn't realise the body colour varied that much, I
The pinwheel I have is more on the neon, brighter pink colour.
