Tail too long?
« on: June 20, 2012, 07:56:51 AM »
Well recently I found two Flutter ponies in a thrift store, and while I washed their hair I noticed Forget-me-not's tail is too long. So I compared them, and Forget-me-not's tail is much longer than Peach Blossom's, however she still has some shorter hair in her tail as well which is the same length as Peach Blossom's. Here are the pics of them:

Is it some weird tailcut or a factory error? Or something else? :S

I looked up some pictures of Forget-me-not on MyLittleWiki, and seems to me that yours' tail must be some sort of a factory error or something. That and the ends are uneven.

However, this long tail looks quite nice on her: you can always make beautiful curls with it. :) :3

That should be just a case of them putting the washer in incorrectly. If the washer inside of her is even on both sides, the tail would even out and be similar length to Peach Blossom's. Hope that made sense!

Skyrocketneko, I hade the same thought first, but still her shorter end is the same lenght as Peach Blossoms, so if I'd try to even out them it'd still be longer.

And thank you, I guess it may be some sort of factory error then.

Well, not really.. if the cylinder is parallel to the tail hole, they should both come out even. Hehe, I might have to draw a picture, so hard to explain!  :)

That is quite the tail :)

I agree with skyrocketneko, I think the tail washer needs adjusting.

I don't think its that the hair is not in the washer right and here is why.  For the tail to be that long on one side...that would mean it was pulled out, or the tail on the other side was all bunched up on the inside of the pony.  This can't be, because the tail side that is the longest is still way longer than the side that is shorter and there is no metal showing from the bracket that goes in the middle before the washer is put on to suggest it was pulled out funny.  So if the other side were all bunched up on the inside of the pony then, why would it be the correct length compared to other ponies. I think the washer is in place correctly and that the tail bracket is in the pony correctly and this is clearly a factory error. I think they probably made all the pony tails longer and trimmed them after getting them in the ponies.  Somehow this pony missed quality control.  I have always suspected that the tails and manes were trimmed after the pony was put together.  Don't have a fact on that though.

I tried to pull the shorter part gently, but it doesn't move at all, so I guess it's not the washer placement nor it was pulled out. Probably it'd help if I peek inside, but I don't want to take her head off since I want to trade them away ^^;

But I'm glad it's not a tail cut or something bad :)

Better too long a tail than too short! :P

Cute find!!! I would normally go with the "not even in the washer" argument as well but as you say that doesnt make sense for the "shorter" side to actually be normal length - it should instead have been even shorter than Peach Blossoms. I ll go with factory error on the "tail trimming" machine!
