Can i see Customs with branches or trees painted on them please?

i am planning a spring themed pony and i need inspiration i am planning on painting either flower vines or branches with flowers on her but would like to see other people ideas on that theme.

EDIT- Also do you guys draw a light outline to go off before painting or do u just freehand?

Yay, Kaoskat posted pics! I thought of those CP ponies when I saw the title of this thread.  ^.^

I think I only have one. This was taken before her hair was styled, but shows the branch better than other pics.

I usually just freehand trees and branches but it's possible to sketch with a pencil first. It's also useful to practice on paper beforehand if you're nervous about freehanding: a pen sketch will help you see how to draw the branches and get the look you're after, and practicing the strokes with a paintbrush will give you an idea of the suitable brush size and paint consistency as well as the best angle and the amount of pressure needed. :)

I'm not always happy with my trees, especially those without leaves... the basic shape comes out funny sometimes, like the tree on October Nights, it looks like a hand with four fingers or something. :lol: There's another one on her NDS that turned out a bit better, I think.

I free handed it.  Usually I have something drawn on paper to give me an estimate, but I've found that pencil on the pony itself doesn't really do much for me...

These all look great guys. Your painting skills amaze me on such a small and curved canvas. I have a few questions...

What size brush do you use, and also soft bristle or firm bristle. Or are some of them ink or Pitt pens?

Edit: Also has anyone used a knife brush for this kind of thing?

I always paint my fine lines with tiny liner brushes :) my most used one is a 10/0 golden taklon brush. It's awesome! :)
