Gross Secret Surprise Pony w/pics

Hello!

I found a Secret Surprise pony at a church sale (I had no clue how freaking big they are!) and she has tail rust.  Since her compartment takes up most of her body and it won't come out easily...any ideas on how to remedy the tail rust?

The compartment does come out.

1) Open the saddle and then remove it from its hinges
2) Take off her head
3) Remove the plastic which surrounds the "key hole"
4) The "surprise" storage area should now slide and lift out
5) Deal with tail in normal way

That should work! Fingers crossed...its been a few years since I had to take one apart.

Ah!  Taking off the lock...that's the secret...okay thank you!  I'l have to soak her in hot water--her head is almost as bad as a G3's LOL

OK I finally got her into pieces...it wasn't easy, either!  I've had G3s who parted company with their heads more easily!  AND her compartment was glued in so I had to use a knife--carefully.  Very minimal damage, which I was pleased with.  Sometimes I don't know my own strength and can be heavy handed.  Also thrilled I didin't cut my stupid hand off or something. 

Anyway I thought you might like to see.  She was gross and moldy inside, especially her head--wtf is that  brown-red crap?  It was slimy!  Man it was nasty.  LOL Mildew or something, I guess.  She got a good clean-out with Dawn anti-bacterial soap and is now drying in front of my fan.  Most of the rust came out of the tail too.  C:

Oh--also, the neck plug goes in reverse--it's attached to the body, not the head!  Not knowing this, I accidentally made a small cut in the plug.  Oh well, I know better for next time.  Hopefully this might help someone else who needs to do the same thing.

huh, I didn't realize they came apart at all! Well good to see you were able to take care of the mold. As for the last of the rust, toothpaste should get it out of the hair.

Whoa, weird how the plugs are on the body. o.O Good to know though. Glad you could fix her up!

I just got one that smelled heavily of smoke. I stuffed some dryer sheets in the compartment. Surprise!

Kudos to you Cubbie for taking on the challenge and taking her apart. Better to clean her than let it get worse inside. Thanks for pics!
