Rupenzal question
« on: June 07, 2012, 02:55:52 PM »
Ok so I just put out a request on the wanted forum for Rupenzal for a birthday present for my daughter's 4th birthday coming up. (Repunzal has been on my grail list for years.)

So after putting out a plea here I did a search on ebay and found she is selling for around $400! Is she really worth that much?

I encourage you to check out my feedback on eBay and here at the arena.

She's on my grail list as well. About a month ago I saw one on ebay go for about $1,000. I think that was a bidding war because one that sold a week or so after that sold for $500 I think. But she's very pricey any way you look at it! She's a gorgeous girl though :D

A cheaper alternative might be to have a custom one made.  DD is getting mommy and baby Mimics for around $50.

Yes $400-450 would be a nice price for her - add another $100 plus if she has her accessories double it if shes in her bag!

There are some amazing customisers out there who do incredibly accurate Punzies - maybe thats a good idea? I think its Isabella Klein who has done a lot of alternate and original style Punzies over the years.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

Yeah...I'm thinking Rapunzel for a 4 year old isn't the greatest idea...I'd suggest a custom as well!

Personally, I'd only give a G1 to a child if it was in VERY poor condition. These are very old collectibles, and are not play toys anymore. Please do not give your four year old a valuable pony to play with. If you want to bond over pony play or something, buy a G3/G4 or an extremely beaten up G1 that is in true bait condition (many seem to think a tiny paint scratch or messy hair makes a G1 bait, but that is very wrong) or a custom or something. Don't destroy old collectibles that are no longer being made, because once they're gone they're gone forever. ):

Well, my 4-year-old is really delicate with her ponies and keeps them in really nice condition. She even has her own pony shelf!

But I don't let her have G1's because I'm afraid of what chemicals and such they used back then. And she really loves to cuddle her ponies so they have a lot of skin contact. I'm sure she could keep G1's nice as well, but her health comes first.

I agree! ONE pen mark or haircut and you just lost 1 or 2 hundred off the value

I just had no idea she was worth THAT MUCH...and thought it would be a cute to give to her along with the Tangled movie.  No Deanna won't be getting her...She has found and played with about 3 of my G1's and is very carefully with them. (Tickles symbol is wearing off anyway) I'm sorry to disagree but these are toys first.

She is just starting to get into ponies. She refers to the G1's as "Mommy's ponies" and knows that she is to be very careful with them. She has no idea to the extent of my collection in storage. I will buy her ponies that are on the market today so that she will recignize them and they will be hers. She loves to old 80's cartoons and refers to them as "mommy's pony movies".

All that being said I do understand what you are saying and agree that a pony of that rarity and value should not go to a child.
