There is a way (I just checked google), but it isn't compatible normally, I think. I can't really test it now because I don't have it with me (I would only be able to check it around mid August). I can check it and let you know then, if you like

Also, there's a patch here http://petz.ubi.com/downloadz.php that might help on getting the game running on XP, so I think it should be fine.

My Petz 5 works somewhat fine on win 7 and XP, it messes up the custom "artwork" etc but otherwise fine.
In scandinavia you can buy a "ubisoft exclusive" edition for $5 (without shipping) completely new http://cdon.se/spel/catz_5_%26_dogz_5_(medallion)-885673
(the international cdon.com version page didn't, sorry)
They don't have any pamphlets or anything but it's playable.
