I think Ringlets summary is perfect - from what people have experienced over the years there seems to be a grade of very susceptible to unlikely to burn but ultimately any white pony may tan if they have an issue to start with. Therefore, if the issue is mild and just a slight discolour you may wish to avoid sun fading and only if mild yellowing/tanning would not worsen the condition or if its just one focused area that needs work then go for it.

I agree with hathorcat, Ringlets summary is really good. I almost don't want to post any photos of my Gingerbread since she looks okay (especially in photos) - feels like I exaggerated. At the same time, when I look at her up close there's definitely some discolouration on her face. It's not that noticeable when you look at her from a distance and the sunfading took out that dark spot she had on her forehead. Although, the spot went away after just one day, should have taken her out of the window a bit earlier. Adding a photo of some of the stains before and after. I don't think the ones on her tummy are cancer - she had some more of those on the inside of her hind legs.

Yes, she's a nice looking pony after all, the main flaw is that there isn't much twinkle left on her eyes. That's why I chose that angle of the photo, shows some twinkle at least. An extra bonus is that she smells pony! Gingerbread in general is a beautiful pony even if she doesn't age well. Love the colour combinations.
