AnimeNEXT Mascots Pet custom resculpt

Been wanting to work on this little dude for some time now, either in a drawing, painting, or sculpture.

I just happened to have a G1 Baby Cuddles My Little Pony bait laying around, and, wellll... she just kind of beckoned to be turned into something reminiscent of a cat.

The AnimeNEXT mascots pet is sort of a cat... a green, one eyed, antennaed cat, but a cat none-the-less!

Started with a G1 Baby Cuddles My Little Pony bait. All sculpting was done with apoxie sculpt from Aves Studios. Painted with various craft acrylic paints, and sealed with a matte varnish. Eye was sealed with a glossy varnish. Nose and tips of antennae were first resealed with Star Lite varnish, then dipped in Stamp - n - Stuff's kaleidoscope transparent embossing powder for a microglitter faux flock look.

Tail cuff is decorated with Swarovski crystals and metal.

Whiskers are painted strands of broom bristle from my 2011 Quidditch World Cup broom pen. XP

The AnimeNEXT mascots pet belongs to, of course, AnimeNEXT / Universal Animation.

He's my take on the mascots pet from the NJ based anime convention, AnimeNEXT! I have nooooooooooo idea what the little dude's name is, I don't remember it ever being posted online and as an artist in the artist alley, I rarely, if EVER, was given one of the printed programs. I THINK they had his name and the mascots name in the program one year, and the forums, when they had a contest to be the main artist for AN.

Must find out his name now! They'll more than likely let me know this weekend at the convention.

Wow, that is some extensive sculpting. He's absolutely adorable and looks nothing like a pony which in this case is a good thing.
Also, the antennae turned out great.

Actually, of all the custom resculpts I've done, this was the least extensive, and I was able to get him done in about a week ( compared to the amount of time it takes to work on my others, at least. ).

Not sure, actually! It just seems to be the regular thing for artists in artist alleys. We rarely, if ever, get a program!

This year, however, I'm downloading the PDF version to my Blackberry, juuust in case.
