New Monster High Collector. Help!
« on: June 02, 2012, 08:34:05 PM »
So...  OK.  I promised myself that there would be no Monster High at my house.  No matter how awesome they looked, no matter how well they were made, no matter how much I loved the characters.....

And then I watched all of the webisodes and specials.

Now Ghoulia and Draculaura are sitting on the coffee table at my boyfriend's apartment.

The problem is, I'm a poor college student.  I can buy ponies online for good prices sometimes.  But MH is so expensive, especially online!  I felt really bad dropping $25 on two MHs, especially when I promised myself I wouldn't collect them.  But now I've been bitten by the MH bug, and I can't get enough!  I need more!

So my question to you, my fellow monster addicts....  Where can I get MHs for the cheapest possible price?  The only local stores that I've checked are Wal-Mart and Boscov's, and they both have them for about $12 to $13.  Any stores have them for better prices than that, or is that about the best I can expect?

Sometimes you can find them at discount outlet stores, like Big Lots. I've never personally found any though, so I'm not sure how the prices would compare.

You could always check Craigslist and Ebay for 'used' lots...  ^-^  It's garage sale season, so you never know!!!

Honestly, you're going to have a hard time buying one for under $10! However, you may be able to snag a nude doll for that price on ebay. Maybe. Even then, you'll be looking at $5 shipping. If anything, I would start stalking the new Monster High Sales Forum. You can probably get a decent deal if you look hard enough, or if you post a want ad. Also, you won't have to deal with ridiculous eBay shipping prices and being outbid, etc. But it's still going to be hard to find one for under $10.

And like saply said, discount stores may sell older dolls for a fraction of the cost. Keep your eyes open at all times! I found Skull Shores Ghoulia at my supermarket of all places! She was $15, but I liked her so much that I bought her anyway.

Good luck on your search! I wish I could get MH dolls for less than $10 too!

Standard MH dolls cost NZ$35 new here in New Zealand. The Skull Shores ones cost NZ$28, while the Sweet 1600 ones cost NZ$53! Clawdeen's Bunk Bed set costs NZ$80!!

So yeah, being able to get them for US$12 is actually pretty cheap already.

My wife and I have occasionally talked about moving across the ditch. This could be the selling point ~ cheaper MH dolls! Just kidding ...  ;)

If that was really what I was after, I'd be better off moving the family back to the States ...

They're $34.99 here, so I feel your pain.  My husband thinks that if I want an articulated doll, I should be saving for a BJD instead spending random $40 here and there.  It's hard to argue with that, so I haven't bought any MH yet but I sure was tempted when I saw the Werecat Twins.  Thankfully they were sold out when I stopped by TRU again or I might have stooped to temptation.  :D

It's been my experience that members here often have nude dolls for sale, and clothing lots for sale, at VERY reasonable prices..and sometimes are even willing to trade. ^.^

Xheapest I have seen them in Canada for the reg dolls os 26 bucks and 18 for DT and SS. But, then Zellers raised their prices. Walmart still has them for that good price, though and occassionally has sales. But, lately I have resorted to buying them offline as nothing shows up here for months at a time.
