Netherland traders- your help is needed

I have a question for any NetherLand traders that have sent packages to the US.  Please your response is needed and appriciated.

To America, it would be "Wereld" (which means world), at 24.30 Euro's, which is over 30 USD.

What I have from DHL is the following:

Gewicht			≤ 2 kg ≤ 5 kg boeken, brochures, catalogi en folders
Afmetingen			Min: 140 x 90 mm Max: L+W+H ≤ 900 mm iedere zijde ≤ 600 mm
Minimumtarief			30 EUR per zending

30 Euro's. That's even worse! That is over 37 USD!

For "Express" The rate for an adult Pony (box 13x15x9 cm) or a bubble-envelope, using the online DHL-ShipNow on their site... I get to 48.50 Euro's *faints*. That's over 60 USD!

Are there ANY other options?

It is horrible! I really don't understand why it is that high!
I had mutliple persons from the US who where interested in my ponies, bit the backed out because of the shipping costs (which I totaly understand!)

That's so sad.

Would it possibly be cheaper to mail a pony to another collector in a country right next to the Netherlands and then have that person mail to the pony buyer?

I don't know hardly anything about mailing overseas, so my idea probably doesn't make any sense, just tossing in a thought. ^_^;

But I don't think it will help because sending to the nearest country still costs €13.

But yeah, I have to agree with Moondancer115, Shipping to a neighbourland is already over half of the price of shipping to "outer-Europe". 

I wonder if the rates are this high in Germany or Belgium or any European land for that matter *ponders*.

Tomorrow I'll be going to the Postoffice and will ask them if there's any other way.
I'll also be visting the DHL Service point here in town and I'll ask them the same.
It's outrageous that they "cut off" the Netherlands like this. *waves fist*

Yep I agree! ^^ same with me and the UK prices (although I hate the recent prices rises *grumble*   )   those prices for the Netherlands are crazy high

I just got back... and oh my... It's not promising! So... get  yourself some chocolate (just in case), sit down and take a deep breath!

First I went to the most common place to send stuff, PostNL (usted to be TNT Post):
They gave me a folder.  There's more info in there then on their website. So here goes!

Maximum size (envelope or box): 100x50x50 cm

The price depends on if you want a Track & Trace number (to follow your package) or not.
The current prices to send from the Netherlands to Outer-Europe (like America) are:

0 - 2 kg without Track and Trace number: 17.10 Euro's = 21.27 USD
(without Track and Trace number is only possible for packages with a max of 2 kg)

Including Track and Trace number:
0 - 2 kg: 24.30 Euro's = 30.22 USD
2 - 5 kg 34.30 Euro's = 42.66 USD
5-10 kg 58.30 Euro's = 72.51 USD
10 - 20 kg 105.30 Euro's = 130.97 USD

Oh, with PostNL for sending in Europe without track and trace:
 EUR 1: 8.50 Euro's
 EUR 2: 10.20 Euro's
 EUR 3: 11.05 Euro's
 
 And the rest is with Track and Trace number, like I pasted in a reply earlier.

With DHL:
 If I were to send 1 package with a size of 20x15x10 that weighs no more then 700 grams it will cost me 94.65 Euro's = 117.73 USD.
So.. basically DHL is out of the question!
The lady on the phone was all but nice actually. She spoke to me like I was some stupid cow, with a sigh after every question I asked. *rolls eyes*.

She told me that they can't send to Russia. As Russia doesn't accept packages to individuals. Only from business to business.
I have to go back to the postoffice and I will ask there what they do with packages for Russia.

Yeah, we suck. I hate to ask so much for shipping, but there isn't a cheaper way.
