What are the rarest ponies ?

That makes sense ^^. I tried searching on ebay for her, nothing. So it's neat that I got one for free that is in mint condition . I don't even have one of the regular Firefly releases ^^.

Take care not to confuse rarity with desirability.
Not every expensive pony is rare.
Not every rare pony is expensive.


There is often, but not always, a correlation.  Move Firefly is a good example, she is not exceptionally expensive to acquire, but I would say she is one of the less common retail releases.  There are probably 10+ normal Fireflys to every one Movie version.


Mimic is not exceptionally rare, but extremely desirable, which accounts for her price. Movie Firefly is probably as uncommon but never fetches more than a fraction of what a Mimic will, because Mimic is wanted by more people.


Rarity is also going to depend on how encompassing you are being, as others have pointed out, and where you live.  For example, Chuck E. Cheese baby pony isn't particularly rare in the US, but there are fewer Chuck E. Cheeses up here in Canada (and none near my city), so the only way for me to get one will probably be to buy from the US.   I'm not even sure if they were around in the 80's.


Baby Applejack is going to be fairly common if you live in the UK, but near impossible to find in the US unless you're shopping abroad. 


The rarest ponies of all are always going to be the prototypes by definition, since only one of each was made in most cases.

Movie!Fire Fly  i do have her and i have the tape that came with her as well. On top of that i do have mimic she was a grail of mine for a long time.

What about spanish lemondrop? I recently got her in a lot with ponies isn't she rare?
O.o All these rare ponies you're speaking of, Mimic was my 3rd TE I think while Movie Firefly was a pony I bought last year... I can't see them as rare when I go them so early on.

One of the first ponies I found second hand was Baby Milky Way for 25¢, so sometimes you just luck out.
(She came home along with the entire Sweet Celebrations family and Cotton Candy.)

I have this girl, she's a princess varient and I think they're pretty rare. I call her Princess Tabetta as she seems to be a mash up of Tabby and Tafetta. O.o I randomly plucked her out of a box at a carboot sale for something like 50pence. And for some reason she has no tail.

I'm the only one who thinks of Ladybug, that sitting foreign Easter egg pony that supposedly only exist in a few numbers? (Not sure how rare she is - I should probably do a site search to refresh my memory.)

Ladybird?  Yes I think she'd qualify as pretty rare, especially with her egg.
