A small question regarding Apoxie...
« on: May 24, 2012, 07:18:30 AM »
...is it good to apply new Apoxie over sculpted parts that haven't completely cured for 24 hours? Or is it better to wait? Because waiting to sculpt small bits of stuff only once a day makes me so impatient! XD

It doesn't have to be completely curred, it will harden regarless, just make sure it is hard enough not to mess up what you have already sculpted....I have "impatient issues" myself :)

I keep multiple ponies to work on for sculpting to help get over my impatience issues :D THen I always have something to work on.

Here lately, I have found my clay curing a lot faster. My Part B, the grey part, is sort of stiff and dry on top. So when I mix it with part A, it isnt as sticky and malleable as I am used to. Its become quite annoying because I take care not to mix the two parts. So I know it isn't cross contamination drying it out. And I have only had this batch since December. :( Maybe I just need a smaller tub next time. I got the big one for this.

you know, I actually find it a bit better to sculpt before it's "fully" cured.  As Darkhorse said, it has to be hard enough for you not to destroy your previous work, but I find that if it's completely cured and you start the new sculpt layer/piece, it doesn't stick as easily. So be impatient :P !

Awesome tips guys, thanks :D and its true nonokono! I sculpted some more over Apoxie that I had sculpted last night, and it does have a better hold and enough hardness so it wouldn't warp or ruin :D. Joy! <3

Maybe it was old to begin with? Because the one I have seems like this, too, and I was suspecting it was an old batch when I got it. After mixing, it's ready to use straight away and it starts to cure pretty quickly, no way you can work with it for three hours, lol. Maybe one and a half. This is only my second tub of Apoxie ever but the first one wasn't like this at all. My first tub was white, this is the natural coloured one.
