I grab G3 Starflower, her colors are gorgeous!  I spend  the day perfecting her paint, her eyes, glossing, and giving a light style.

Done.

I look in my "in case of emergency grab jewelry" jewelry box.  I think about who/what the pony is for, and try not to use my exacto knife while watching tv.

Have you ever had a pony really break your heart?

o i do! I worked on a custom when i was in middleschool, and thought that clear nail polish was a great way to seal them >.<  wrong!!! she got so sticky and gross i stuck her in a box for 6 or 7 years and just last month completely wiped her and started over!

what biiig mistakes did you make when you started out?

A. I used a cheap spray sealer from Walmart and ruined my customs. :yikes: They were sticky for weeks and I ended up stripping them and starting over.

Q. Do you prefer nylon, saran or both?

A: I have never tried saran, so I can't say for sure... I prefer nylon to other types of hair, including polypropylene and thermal hair, the latter is annoyingly brittle and difficult to use.

Q: Since we're discussing hair... what's your opinion on Perfume Puff style hair done with mohair, yarn etc.?

Cubby, what question are you answering? :P

Griffen: A: I personally love purfume puff style hair. I think it's very glam.

Cubby: A: I prefer to work on and receive adult ponies. Babies are cute but I only have one or two in my entire custom collection.

Q: Do you prefer sculpted clothes or clothing made from actual material?

A: If I have a theme in mind, google image searches with the color filter can help with inspiration.  If not, then I'll walk away from the custom for a few days until I'm feeling inspired and focused again.

Q: Do you plan out your customs in advance or just have a vague idea and see where it takes you?  If you plan in advance, how do you do it? (on paper, etc.) If you wing it, what do use as your starting point?

A:  I do both.  I sometimes have an image in my mind where i try to flesh it out in sketches and play with my paints and colored pencils with color combos.  but sometimes, i have an idea for one part, like eyes, or hair color, or symbol and go from there, letting the pony evolve on its own

Q:  have you ever seriously injured yourself working on a pony and how bad WAS it?

A. I was using a flat head screwdriver to try to break up the glue in a G3 unicorn head. I was getting frustrated and started using a stabbing motion but missed the neck hole and stabbed my thumb instead. It was sooo painful and bloody but I did my best to bandage it up and move on. I actually contemplated getting stitches but was too embarrassed to tell anyone I had injured myself prepping ponies.

Q. Do you prefer bottled colors for do you prefer to mix custom colors?

Bottled for FBR, custom mix for anything else. I'm not good at mixing up colours to keep for a long time xD

Q. - How many paint brushes do you use when making a custom?

A. Er. Well. I have 3 or four, but it really just depends on what I'm making. If it has a FBR add in another brush or two.

Q. Do you find you get better prices for your customs on eBay or off? Where?
