The changeling queen (idea thread)

I fell in love with the changeling queen from the season finale of MLP and I know that when my backlog of commissions is complete, I am going to try making her.

I was wondering if anyone else was planning to do the same, would you like to discuss ideas on how to make her?

She has a lot of holes in her body and I'm trying to decide if I want to ignore the holes or cut them into the pony. And if I do cut them, leave them empty or put something over them like a window? Some clear Plastic maybe?

Everything else about her seems pretty standard and easy. No way I can get the holes in her hair though lol.

I had the same idea! I was bouncing ideas around and someone suggested to me to try and pack the feet up with clay or something and then use a very narrow electric drill and just drill holes in the legs. I thought that would get some great results but maybe a little risky? I thought about just cutting little holes too but you could see right up into the pony if you just did that and I think that would look quite strange...

Filling the pony with clay might work. I have drilled pony ears with an electric drill to pierce them and it has worked fine. I'm not sure how well Apoxie takes to drilling though. I can shave it with an xacto knife, so I dont see why it wouldn't work.

You know those guage earrings people put in their ears to make wide holes? I wonder if something like that could be done. Like with a small metal tube?

i need to go see a pic of her as behind on the episodes but an idea for filling holes  - clear resin? even embed things withing resin

If you are using a G1, ignore the holes. If you use a G4, go a head and do the holes^^

I think I would have to do a g4 in order to get the eyes right on her. I don't think her look would translate well without the huge eyes.

Also, Resin! Great idea! I have never worked with it before though. That sounds like a challenge! And I love trying new things!

Love Her!!! I plan on doing at least two pieces based off of her and I'm seriously considering doing my very first OS as I've looked at baits of all generations and sizes and have decided that none of them would be quite "right" for her form.
  I'm excited about her, to say the very least!!

I love her, and I'm contemplating ways to make her without drilling holes in ponies... O_o

Just a note, all G4 figures have solid legs so drilling isn't much of an issue...

Given that the queen has really long legs, if a standard G4 body was to be used, perhaps the legs could be extended down via sculpting? And holes added as they were built.

I'd imagine that a Princess Celestia bait would be used, because she is a tall, long legged thin ponyish creature. Drilling holes through that bait would be harder to do since she would be a much harder plastic than the little ponies. I know that there will be a lot of fantasy film being used for her delicate insect wings. I wonder if it can also be used for her hair, for that more accurate look she has in the show. I wouldn't know what hair colors to use. She is pretty awesome. Can't wait to see some WIPs.

Oh yes, I want to make a custom of her. The first time I saw her on screen I said, "ZOMG!  Must make custom Changeling Queen!"  I've spent the past few days plotting on how to do her.
