Quick questions about Princess Ponies
« on: April 20, 2012, 10:15:41 AM »
Hey! I've been wondering this for a long time but I haven't posted it because it's not really worth a post all on its own haha, but I have a few more to ask now too, so...

-Is the strap that holds the princess hat on made of elastic or not? Mine is just sort of a fabric strap and it doesn't work very well so I was thinking it might not be what's supposed to be there.

-Is the gems in their symbol similar to the kind they used for TE's? Is the coating the same? I wouldn't know, I've never seen a TE in person :silly:

-And does anyone have pictures of Princess Primrose with everything she came with originally?

Thanks everyone!

I can't help you with the specific questions, but I know that elastic can lose its stretchyness over the years and become like a strip of fabric.  I found a bunch of Barbie clothes my mom made me (in the mid-80s), and the elastic is completely non-stretchy now.  I bet the same thing happened to pony elastic...

The strap is elastic with a fabric weave...

I think the gem is similar to the TE stuff and can lose its shininess. Not completely sure as I only had one Princes Pony in my childhood. :)

Yes, the elastic will seem like fabric if it has lost all of its stretchiness - you can replace them with standard white elastic of the appropriate thickness.

Princess ponies do indeed have the same coating on their plastic jewels as the twinkle eyed ponies.

Thanks guys! I'll have to replace the elastic so her hat stays on.... Right now it's drooping down around her cheek, lol.

I am in the process of completing all of my princess accessories and every single hat I have has elastic that is stretched out - so it's a common problem.  I need to replace it but, atm, I just tie the extra in a knot under the pony's head.

The website BabySugarberry posted is great.  :)  I also like this one:

Depending on where you live (US or UK,) Princess Primrose would have also come with a Bushwoolie (Chumster) or a dragon (Sparks?) but I think princess ponies are also known for being occasionally packaged with variations in their accessories.

As for me, I'm still working on getting Primrose's wand. . .  :)

The princess hats have symbols that match the actual gem!
I own 10 varieties of princess hats! (This does NOT include the German ones with un-edged ribbons)... not sure how many total hats there are.

Oh, speaking of, I think my Primrose's hat actually might belong to another pony... It looks more like Princess Sparkle's hat on those websites. lol. Primrose is a hat thief!

I believe the alternate options could be due to poor quality control; princess ponies are notorious for being packaged with varying colors of accessories.  Perhaps they may have simply run out of one color at the factory and substituted another rather than miss deadlines.

Over the years this is the list I have come up with for Princess hats...yes, there are some mix ups with accessories but there is enough of a trend you can judge what Hasbro meant rather than what actually sometimes happened!

Aqua with Silver stars/moons & Pink ribbons - Princess Amber [Y5-UK]
Aqua with Silver tears/hearts & Pink ribbons - Princess Serena [Y5-US]
Blue with Silver stars/moons & Pink ribbons - Princess Royal Blue [Y5-US]
Blue with Silver tears/hearts & Pink ribbons - Princess Pearl [Y5-UK]
Pink with Silver flowers/butterflies & Aqua ribbons - Princess Sparkle [Y5-US]
Purple with Silver stars/moons & Yellow ribbons - Princess Amethyst [Y5-UK]
Purple with Silver stars/moons & Yellow ribbons - Princess Sapphire [Y5-UK]
Purple with Silver tears/hearts & Yellow ribbons - Princess Tiffany [Y5-US]
Purple [Light] with Silver flowers/butterflies & Yellow ribbons - Princess Primrose [Y5-US]
Purple Pink with Silver tears/hearts & Yellow ribbons - Princess Aquamarine [Y5-UK]
Yellow with Silver flowers/butterflies & Pink ribbons - Princess Ruby [Y5-UK]
Yellow with Silver stars/moons & Pink ribbons - Princess Starburst [Y5-US]

Thanks guys! I'll have to replace the elastic so her hat stays on.... Right now it's drooping down around her cheek, lol.

Oh and as others have said that happens all the time! I guess elastic doesnt last 30 years!
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

lol! Well my Princess hat looks like it's definitely Princess Sparkle's then. So either some kid had both and mixed them up one day, or Hasbro did, lol. Oh well, someday I'll hunt down her regular one, but she's cute enough in this one for now. I'll have to take a picture!
