Tell me about Peachy variants!
« on: April 16, 2012, 11:15:57 AM »
I don't mean Nirvanas, but the variations of regular US-released Peachy people have found.

I ask because I just picked up a nice Peachy at a thrift store today, but I discovered that while her body is a normal peach color, her head is light pink, and the color appears to go all the way through, so it doesn't seem to be fading. Also, oddly, her head is still mostly glued on, yet she's missing not just her tail, but the washer too. I also discovered one of my other Peachys is darker than I thought, with much brighter pink symbols, but they're all 1982, Hong Kong.

So how much variation is there in this pony? I knew there was variation in the symbol color, but are some versions more pink than peach, or lighter or darker?

It seems discoloration is common with her
Here is what the one I have looks like, her head is lighter:

I've also seen several on flickr with different types of discoloration

A few examples:

This one the head is darker.

here the symbols are different

It's kind of weird isn't it!

Yes, your picture looks exactly like mine (but with a tail)! Do you think it is discoloration? Normally that's my assumption, but since the darker/yellower color appears to be the standard, I'm not sure how that would happen. I'd love it if the whole body were that light pink just because it seems different!

Also, the head of the no country one in the first link is the same color as the entire body of the other Hong Kong one I mentioned.

Peachy, even in her nirvana forms, is super prone to discolouration. Sometimes her Italian counterpart can look almost greenish!

Regarding the washer - could it be stuck in one of her legs?

Well, she's pretty squishy and I didn't feel it, but I decided to just take her head off, and apparently her tail was cut and the metal clamp with the remains of her tail were there, but no washer.

But now I can also tell that her head and body are really different colors inside and outside.
