AG doll questions
« on: April 15, 2012, 06:12:59 AM »
A co-worker buys American Girls and knock offs at goodwill.  She then cleans them, new clothes and donates them to the children's shelter.  She's been watching my pony work and got to wondering if she could paint a mask on one with acrylics and add a colored hair streak.  Possible?  What would be the easiest way to add a streak?  Thanks!

Best day to add in some nylon/sran hair of her color choice would be to sew it/root it into the scalp just like all the rest of the hair.

Okay one tip. The AG dolls have wigs not rooted hair.  So, you can't reroot a colored hair streak.  You might could sew in wefted hair or dye a segment of hair.  Or I guess if you wanted you could create your own holes on the scalp for rooting... I had a friend that dyed the dolls and hair with much success...I will have to ask her what she used.

We also came up with the idea of hot gluing some hair to a ribbon, then to a hair clip.  Tiny for dolls, bigger for our daughters.  Between us we are dangerous!  She brings me ponies she finds, I bring her dolls.  Thanks much for the thoughts!
