Getting rid of cigarette smoke smell...
« on: April 11, 2012, 03:26:02 PM »
I just bought two nice ponies off eBay and they both REEK of cigarette smoke... They're in the bathroom post-bath and I can smell them from my living room. Does anyone have a good way to at least dampen the smell or to get rid of it completely? I'm so disappointed :( I don't want the smell to spread to the rest of my collection.

I'll never buy from this seller again. Ugh I need to learn to stay off eBay anyway =/

lol What's with all the tobacco ponies being sold on eBay in such a short span of time. I also received two eBay ponies earlier this week that stunk of cigarettes. -__-; Currently have them sitting in individual baggies wrapped in Bounce dryer sheets. I may end up going the kitty litter route (sticking the ponies in baggies and filling them to the brim with kitty litter to absorb the smell) if it still bothers me after a week.

Seriously, even the bubble mailer they came in has the stench of cigs... I can't even reuse it because of the smell.

Just a plague of them huh? That's too bad :( This is the first time I've ever had this issue.

I've got some dryer sheets with Febreeze and I'll definitely try that. I haven't heard of using kitty litter! I'll try that too if this doesn't work..

I'll second the thanks! Behemoth's thread was great to read, too. I just got an ebay pony in the mail today, and hack-gag!!! My first cigarette pony. Gorgeous in all other respects, but gracious! The smell!!!

As soon as she's dry from her spa I'm off to raid our baking supplies for baking soda!!
