Commission requests for your persona?

Has anyone ever received a commission request for your own persona?
If yes, how did you feel about that, and did you do it?
If not, how would you feel about it? Would you do it?

I've had 2 commissions within the last six months for versions of my persona, Tigersilk. I thought it a bit odd, but ah well, what the hey.

I think it would kinda depend on who wanted one. If it was someone that had commisioned me a couple times before, that might be ok. I guess I'm kinda thinking of it as a visual reminder of who made what customs, since some times they all start mixing together. And I know there are times when I can't remember who made what & I have to look it up *blush* So grouping a bunch of customs by one person w/ their persona would be pretty neat. I really hope that all made sense...

I guess its alright that they like the design you came up with, but its odd that they wouldn't request their own design to me :/

Reading your replies got me thinking - maybe it doesn't bother me personally because Tigersilk is not exactly terribly original ... most of the personas I see here are WAY more unique and personal.
(I still love her. But she's basically... a zebra. )

I've sold past personas when I decided they weren't what I wanted anymore, but not ones I currently love. I'm kind of protective

I think it would be a bit flattering.  Odd, but flattering.  I would love to have custom ponysonas of those who did customs for me, kinda like having a little of that person's personality in a pony.  It's just another design you created that represents you and a character of your making.  I might be a little odd about it at first, but it's a representation of you, so...idk.

Were these people that actually KNOW what a persona really is? I mean that it's "you"?
 Than I think its rather weird o.O like asking an artist to make a self-portrait for them to have. But it is up to you if you think it's okey or not

Nope, not for me! I'd say, "hey, I'm glad you like it - but she's my design. You can be a brat and go ask another customizer to try to rip off my pony, but I'm not going to help you do it." But then, I'm not very good at sharing.

I feel like, if it's a design you came up with just for a custom - then that's not as bad. But a persona is something you agonize over, that symbolizes you, that you use as your online avatar in many cases; it's not 'just' a design. I wouldn't begrudge anyone else the right to do so, but personally, I would feel weird about someone wanting to commission a custom of my persona - unless it was a particularly awesome persona, of course. And even then I might suggest that they make small, slight changes (like a different symbol with the same color scheme, or substitute a hair-stripe color), so that they could have the overall impression they want, but not the same as my persona. Persona-siblings, I guess?

At first I thought no way (mine,mine,mine), but then I thought why not. It's a design on a pony that "represents" me, not a chuck of my DNA or something. It just means that someone thinks my persona is awesome enough to be in their collection. They can admire me 24/7 in the privacy of their own home.

No...just..no. Unless they were a close, personal, friend I wouldn't want such an intimate part of myself being created for sale. It's a bit creepy imo.

I think I'd have real trouble actually posting a custom of my ponysona off to another person - I'd fall in love with her when making her and not want to send her to the commissioner!
