Precious Gem - Restoring/styling hair?
« on: April 09, 2012, 07:21:38 AM »
I have a couple of very playworn G3 precious Gems and i have been trying to fix their hair up. The girl i am working on at the moment basically had 2 dreadlocks. One for her tail and one for her mane. The 1st girl i tried fixing up, her hair would just disintergrate as i combed. She has kinda lost her SLH status now but was a good practice run.
I have managed to get all the tangles out of girl number 2 and she has huge potential. She will never be mint but at least she is tidy and still has all her length and no tangles.
I used a rediculous amount of conditioner on her and she is drying over night now. I look forward to seeing how she looks in the morning.
Does anyone know what is up with Precious Gems hair and have any other tips on taming the 'beast'?
Anyone else  bothered trying to tidy up precious gem? i see she has been used as bait often.

I'd suggest boiling her hair, maybe even a boil perm, or straw curls.

This is what she looks like MIB. If this will give some motivation. Ponies should look their best, why not fix her up nice?

Here's a restore I did on Precious Gem.  It took several hours and it was a case of very carefully and gently combing out small sections, then straightening them with a hair straightener.  Then I did a boil perm to give her ringlets.

So yeah, you can fix her, but it's a case of being very patient and very gentle with her hair.

You can see more pics here, including a comparison with my mint Precious Gem:   https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150421582967039.360300.630607038&type=3&l=63dde25248

Considering I got mine at the Value Village, she has amazing factory curl hair. I don't think it's even been brushed. Her tail, on the other hand, is a bit of a rat's nest. Love the tips for fixing her up.

Foalpatrol, I love those ringlets! She looks amazing :)

Here's my Gem:
