Any Lion King fanatics here?

oo I'm glad I stumbled upon this thread ^^ I hope to photography and price check a bunch of my lion king stuff soon to trade/sell. Since quite a few arena members seem to collect I'll probably offer them up here before evilbay

I loved LK growing up and acquired quite the toy collection of them. I know I'm keeping a few items, since I love disney stuff ^-^ 'll have to post some photos here of everything later in the week when I'm not so busy. Everyone else has such huge collections!!

The other day there was a local commercial for a furniture store on and.......one of the tvs was playing The Lion King.^^ It was the scene where Nala is telling Simba how things are back home.

Nyawwwww   I love that book as a backdrop, hehe.  And even though I'm not a fan of the embroidered eyes, they really suit that cute little Kovu plush <3

One thing I can post in the future is a possible photo of my animation mentor, who animated Zazu in the Lion King. She might frown hard if she finds out that I'd sneak a picture of her on the internet.
 
Other than that, all I have is some art she gave me (which I don't think I'm suposto scan ) and a letter she wrote me for a scholarship, which I could share.

I love "The Lion King" - it was the first film I've seen at the theater. It's such an awesome film: it's beautifully made, breath-taking, the visuals are awesome, the music is awesome. Everything about this film is awesome!


I also like "Lion King 2", despite what many people say about it, though "Lion King" is still better. I don't remember owning any merch though... maybe one story book, and a couple of rubber figurines (which I'm pretty sure that they were knock-offs), but I'm not certain if I have them anymore. I still do own my VHS tape.


One thing I don't understand though, is all those anime fans who keep screaming that "Lion King" sucks because it rips off Tezuka's "Kimba the white lion". And while I can understand their concerns (there are some similarities between the two), still both the series and the film have completely different plots. So there...

I have read loads about the Kimba thing...it's fascinating in a weird way.  But didn't make me love Lion king any less.  C:

I liked Lion King 2 a lot also.  1 and a half however, i shall not speak of.  lol

If I'm honest, I don't blame Kimba fans for considering TLK to be a ripoff. There's so many similarities, and early artwork has even shown Simba as a white lion, not to mention Disney once tried to gain the copyright to Kimba (or Leo, as I prefer).

But like hyenacub, it doesn't hinder my love for TLK in any way.

I love TLK 2, I just... Don't find Kiara as interesting as Kopa in any way. I would have loved to see both Kopa and Kiara in the movie, perhaps Simba fearing the worst as his kids grow up (in case of history repeating itself with his father and uncle).

Yeah there's definitely a load of similarities between TLK and Kimba but I like them both so I think that both fandoms ought to just get along.^^
