I went to Walmart today and found SS Frankie for 4 bucks and some change.

The woman who rung me up said this:
"Oh those dolls.....I just can't understand why anyone would like them. Yuck. I saw them around Christmas time and thought 'who would want these' they're not very popular are they? That's why this doll is only 4 dollars. You never see them on shelves. Because nobody wants them "

I almost thought she was trolling me, but she was an older woman. I didn't say anything. I was just laughing on the inside.

Plus, WHO says that to someone who is BUYING the product?

I watched the special online yesterday. it was much better than the valentine special, which was all Draculaura angst and can get tiring. Gil kinda fell flat for me, but luckily I'm the type that doesn't have to like the characters on the show/specials to like the dolls.

There's a Gorey Gazette article about Frankie's parents having been to Skull Shores, but I haven't read it so I don't know if it relates to the scientist or not.

I'm cooling my heels waiting for the cleo/clawdeen/colored frankie exclusive pack cuz I want cleo, clawdeen and a colored frankie and it's practically perfect for another exclusive 3-pack :\

Holy Frankies! There were some on the top shelf too, didn't make it into the image. I was looking through them and most had some sort of visible flaw on her face.  Even though I found a few without, I ended up not getting her since I spent about $100 on MH dolls this weekend online..

I've had a few people at walmart tell me something along the same lines "I think these dolls are gross, I don't get why kids would want these" crap like that... I just smile and say "to each their own, clearly mattel knows what they're doing" and just leave it at that....

Agreed! I'd totally say something.
If they were so "gross" the kids wouldn't be buying them, don'tcha think? They're constantly sold out and it's not because no one's buying them. Not all little kids are going to want to buy the Tinkerbelle barbie or the Cinderella one. Sometimes they'll want a zombie!

I wonder if this means that Frankie and Jackson/Holt are no longer a thing?  Not that I'd be that disappointed, I really like Andy (much better than Holt).

I kinda hope that isn't the case since they probably won't bother to pair him up with someone else. If they end up phasing him out and then there will never be a Holt doll with jointed wrists. I'd rather see Andy paired off with someone else, perhaps Rochelle or Toralei or maybe Venus. The new girls don't have anyone yet.

I got Frankie for ten bucks at Zellers yesterday! I guess the ten bucks I paid is what the canadian market apparently thinks is the equal tp the $4.19 the Americans are paying. But, still...cheapest MH doll yet! When I first saw her online I thought I wouldn't be interested her, but then I saw her in person. She is amazing!
And the funniest thing happened. I had like ten pf her piled in my arms because I was checking each one for flaws and this lady came up and started yelling at about how despicable I was as a scalper and that buying all the doll to make a profit wasn;t fair to the kids and yadda yadda and I just stared at her with my open and foinally told her I was only buying one, I was just looking for flaws, and I also hated scalpers. That prompted a twenty minute convo about the dolls, which ones are coming out, which ones are being phased out, where we knew to go to get certain dolls....and she didn;t look at me weird for being an adult collector! It was pretty great.
