Tail Reached! (Customizing Cadence)
« on: March 29, 2012, 08:11:34 AM »
I'm customizing one of the new Princess Cadences into my ponysona. Because of how her wings are I suspected that it might not be as easy as taking out the neck plug to access her tail and it turned out just as I feared. Her front half, at least, is not hollow at all--her neck plug is just set into a crater in her neck. So, I'm looking for advice on how I can take out her tail and give her a new one. I know some of you have customized the fashion style Luna/Celestias where the wings were in the way. And some of you have given new tails to McPonies whose tails were not sculpted How did you guys handle that?

UPDATE (4/17)

After much toil I finally got her wings cut out. So here's what she looks like inside:

If it is the new brushable Cadence (the 10cm one that comes with Shining Armor), you probably need to cut the wing plug out to get to the tail. That is what I had to do to get to the brushable Celestia's tail.

Were you able to fit the wings back in all right?

Update: Just took a look at your custom and the wings seem to look great, so I guess I'll modify my question to: How hard was it to cut the wing plug out and did you have to do any sculpting or anything to get it looking regular again or did you just have to glue it back in?

Not quite yet. I got some direct from China. There's probably no way I could justify buying multiples of the whole castle set to customize. But we'll see, cause this mold is just awesomely adorable!

It was a pain to cut out because mine didn't want to cut around the plug (there was a lot of glue in there). Then when I got the tail done and put back in, I cleaned/smoothed out the wing plug area and glued the wings back with strong glue. :)

Okay, I will give it a try tonight. Hopefully I won't totally ruin her in the attempt >_< ;

Thanks!

She sounds like a chore to take apart!  Ren-Ren, I hope you won't ruin any fingers in the process, either!  :yikes:

So pretty much she is much like the glimmer wings? Hasbro makes no sense with the neck plugs in a pony whose front half is pretty much solid :|
My DeviantArt, why not drop by and take a look!
