These pics are great!

We have Ikea Billy Bookcases with glass doors. I use hair bands to tie the knobs together.

OMG, YumYum..... I just wanna do a grab and run!

Hmmm... I have a couple of older photos... Here's one of them  :)  The cabinet has since been crammed with about another 30 ponies since it was taken though, so it's a bit squished at the mo!

I will have to get better shots of mine....but here is some shots I had in photobucket
My cabinet is an entire cabinet built on a wall by my hubby and goes floor to ceiling on said wall...the front is plexi glass and I decidedto stay away from any stained wood for fear of the plastic resting on varnished wood could make the plastic become sticky by absorbing the poly sealant...
it has lights in it as well...it is pretty full...Im going to need another wall...doh!visitors can't see pics , please register or login

I will have to get a full view shot for you guys tomorrow ;)

That's a cute cabinet, Dede! I like the windows on either side too - that's one of the things I love about mine as well... being able to see ponies on almost all sides! Totally hear you on the kids just sitting there gawking. I frequently find my two having a chat with the ponies!  (and every now and then, the cabinet needs a good dose of glass cleaner!)

LOVE the cupcake stand Dede!!  that is just adorable!
My wee miss has a particular taste for the delicate ponys... 'baafly pony' (butterfly pony) aka flutters and windy wings.  Just the ones which crumble in the hands of a a couple of 3yr olds.

I've been browsing trademe (a sort of NZ version of ebay) for a cabinet.  We have a lot of 70's 'stuff' so I'd love a retro cabinet.... My sofa has the same feet as your cabinet Marlin ;)

This is what I'm using to display my ponies right now :) These are stacked Itso cubes from Target. They're really neat, each cube can be removed (and the shelves too) and they can be stacked any way you want to. I clearly need more cubes, my ponies are 3 rows thick and I'm still out of room! And those risers on the top holding the Fashion Style G4's were originally made for closets to store socks and stuff :P The drawers on the bottom hold all of my ponywear, accessories and some of my MOC's, I still need one more shelf on the left side. And you can see my books stacked on the left, they were displaced when the ponies took over the cubes lol! Some day I will have a nice glass display cabinet, but for now I'm moving around a lot and this is much easier to dis-assemble and put back together than having to worry about a fragile cabinet. Also nice and cheap :)

I got an awesome cabinet from IKEA as well :) it doesn't lock, but it's easy to use bands to tie together the knobs:

Display cabinets are a great way to protect your ponies.
I got glass shelves made for mine and mirrors put in, and they have nice big glass doors so I can see my ponies well even when they are closed.
I've only got photos of them open.

I probably need to invest in a case or something of that matter. I worry that my cat will knock down my pones. It can probably wait until my meager collection grows, though.

I'm thinking about a glass front one (to keep ponys safe from kiddies), esp since my little lady has worked out she can throw toys at the ponys (currently up high on book shelf) and knock them down and wha-la pony to play with.... to my horror!

Ahhh!  I hope my 3 year old doesn't figure that out!  I'm about to move all my G1's out of her room though.  I don't mind so much if she gets a hold of the G3s to much.  Of course she's not at the age where I would let her use scissors and markers openly yet either, though.  Dreading...

These are actually DVD or CD display cases.  They are the perfect size for displaying tons of ponies.  I got a couple of them (G1's display) from Big Lots- $40.  The G1's display is acctually up on my daughter's dresser so she can't reach them.  Of course that won't help your problem.
But originally I had invisioned crafting my own glass doors on the front of these to protect them from dust.  Then my kids were born and I thought I could use that unbrakable glass... plexy glass is it?  I still haven't gotten around to it though.  I thought of many ideas but I really wanted my hubby to help out so that it came out right.  I had thought of 2 to 4 doors on them with hinges and magnetic latches to hold the doors in place.  Of course now I would have to add a lock or high latch to keep the kids out of it. I would still like to do it some day.
