~Design Opinions Please!~ *pic heavy*
« on: March 18, 2012, 04:17:49 PM »
Hey everypony! I wanted to get your opinions on my next project:
I'm planning on making a pair of ponies that match in design, but are of opposite colors. I've picked out my two G3 ponies with similar/same poses and body shapes, and I've already FBR'd one of the ponies black and I plan on FBR'ing the other white.

Now, originally I was planning on making them full body henna ponies, and I've been practicing henna and everything, but I recently realized that I'm in financial trouble and can't afford to go out and get metallic paint, which I really wanted to do the henna design in... :(
So I started thinking about alternatives to henna, and my mind has settled on two other alternatives:

FBR Damask, black design on the white pony and white design on the black pony.

OR
FBR Paisley, probably exactly like my Vera Bradley purse. The colors on one pony would be the complementary colors of the other.

 OR
Do the henna design in regular, non-metallic paint? I was originally using these pictures as a guide.

Ooo, I really like the damask idea! Although I'm sure any of the three designs would look great in opposite colours. Black and white henna ponies would look pretty in my opinion, no need for metallic paint, but henna ponies are pretty popular so my vote goes for the damask design, that would be a bit different! :)

okie dokie :) thanks for the input!
to tell the truth, I'll probably end up doing all of these eventually since I really love using all of the pony as a canvas (as seen with Puzzle Peace, my personally prized custom). So I'm sure the black and white henna will come to fruition eventually if I don't choose it now! :P
anyone else have an opinion or feedback into each design's method of attack?

I love the damask idea. But I'm pretty biased to that myself. My bathroom, my kitchen and bedroom all have some element of damask to them...  :P

All look pretty.  Love Puzzle Peace!  I'm doing Yin/Yang with black and white ponies.  White has black hair with a strip of white/black is the reverse.

I like the Damask best - but I like them all. :)
I took a break from the Arena from a couple months due to school and other things in my life. But I'm back now!

haha from the sound of it, your house epitomizes my dream house pretty well :D

Looks like damask is definitely the crowd winner thus far!

I love the idea of the damask but the henna looks great too. What color metallics do you need?

I was hoping for gold and red metallic colors, and I was going to make an offset layering of the design in gold then red... if that makes sense. But like I said, I can't afford it D: poorest I've been in years atm...

I really love the Paisley design. I think it would look amazing with touches of gold.

:o ...you are absolutely right, it would look quite dazzling. hmmm...I could even use little gold rhinestones or crystals as accents instead of paint, cuz I believe I have the rhinestones.... that would look good on all of those patterns and give some 3D to it too!
Thank you for that brilliant idea, Sugarstar!!! Pure genius ^.^
