Need Help, Managed to Screw up Firefox
« on: March 18, 2012, 01:52:56 PM »
I've done something weird to Firefox and can't seem to fix it.
Somehow earlier I managed to shrink my desktop icons but managed to fix it but now for some reason even though the windows are the same size the top part of my Firefox (and it seems IE) have shrunk. Although readable the adress bar, toolbars, menu and tabs are quite small. See:

Look for something on your browser that will return it to its default setting.
OR
In my experience, the easiest way to restore settings (and it should work for browser settings) is a system restore on your computer. Start Menu -> Control Panel -> System and Security -> Backup and Restore -> Recovery and then just look for a recent date before you noticed the changes. If the changes were caused by a virus/malware/spyware this may help as well.

there's a shortkey for that, lemme see... BLAH why can't I remember. x*D
F11 is for fullscreen...
ahwell. anyway it's not messed up. I have my firefox like this all the time. it's default since a certain firefox update :P However,  you can just klick the litte orange firefox tab i the top left corner, >settings>menu bar (or whatever it's called)
It's not caused by malware :P

Or, did you mean that the text in the tabs got smaller? you might have ctrl+scrolled, perhaps? that way you can shrink or grow everything on screen. (ctrl+ or ctrl- do the same thing)
try ctrl+scroll and see if that works. :)

System restore fixed it. I really don't remember what I did all I remember was moving my trackpad or something and then everything shrunk. o.o

miss_tuneful: Yeah the size of my tabs, menu bar, address bar and right click menus shrunk

I don't see anything wrong with the Firefox copy. You probably just came from an old version.

How to make it look like the old version Again?

Right click on the title bar. Uncheck "Tabs on top".

Right click again, and now check "Bookmarks toolbar"

One more time, and check "Menu bar".

Granted, it still won't look 100% like the old Firefox, but you have to blame the Mozilla Foundation design team for this.

As for IE shrinking, I think that's normal too- IE9 does have a much more slimlined design compared to IE6...

I hadn't updated Firefox when it happened, whatever I did messed up more than just the browser it had messed up other stuff on my computer and firefox was the only thing that I didn't seem to be able to fix. I'll use those suggestions though when I update. I need to do that.
