G4 help!
« on: March 17, 2012, 02:09:36 PM »
Dose anyone know an easier way to remove the plug from G4s?  I tried to genty poke through the seem with my extrao knife but I always seen to acidenly cute trough the body or brake the plug when I try and pull it out.  Also dose anyone know an easy way to turn a blue head white without dye and make it look good?

My husband takes care of most of mine, but honestly it just takes practice. You are doing it correctly. Did you mean a white head blue? Because you cannot dye anything white.

the only way to turn a blue head white is to paint it.

Well I have blue head but I want it white to match the white body I have cause I'm making an Ailcorn by taking a pegaus body and putting a unicorn head on it.

When poking the xacto knife in, just do it slowly, and angle the blade inwards towards the plug. I do lots of tiny stabs instead of slicing. I also grasp the neck plug by the little notch, with pliers, and tug at it. I rip it out of there as soon as it will come out. Sticking the neck in hot water for a bit helps too

And yes, the only way to get white is to paint. :( If you paint the head white, I would suggest putting at least a thin coat of white on the body too, just so that the texture and white match.

Well, you'll either have to paint it or find a different head. Maybe you can look for a Rarity bait.

As people have said you'll get much better with practice. I used to slice or poke the knife through the ponies about half the time, now it happens only very occasionally. I've also found that dipping the pony's neck into near boiling (or gently boiling) water for a few seconds periodically throughout the process helps a lot.

Would poking in and loosening the plugs with something smaller like a thumbtack work?
should be perma-moderated
