Rehair tool
« on: March 13, 2012, 01:18:00 PM »
I got a rehair tool from Dollyhair's site on Saturday, and every time I try and use it, the rehairing needle gets pushed into the tool and I have to uscrew it to loosen it and fix it back in place, but it keeps doing that! GAH, did I break it? I assume it's not supposed to do that with normal attempts at rehairing. WHat did I do wrong?
When the Equestria Girls dolls show up in stores and you end up with unneeded doubles, PM me! I'll buy them!/i]

Sounds like it might be a dud.  I hope others have more useful advice!

mine does that too - it helps to put a thumb tack/push pin in the hole you're about to fill while you load the hair on the tool.

even then, mine sometimes slides back inside the handle.  :(
looking into a re-branding.

i started out customizing with that tool and had the same problem. :/ eventually the screw part just stripped completely from me trying to get it tighter.

now I prefer the exacto handle method since most of them seem to have a stop on the inside, I cut my needles to my preferred length and just put them in there till they are against the back, no more needles getting pushed back. Its a shame because that tool isnt very cheap >__<

oooh... I have a spare exacto handle.  how do you cut the needles for it?

i just use a small pair of cutting pliers to trim down the end. make sure your handle has a cross-hair closure to it though, if its just flat then you needle will still get pushed to the side a lot when rehairing.

If that doesn't work for you, I sell spare needles for $1. Im not sure how they compare to Dollyhair in terms of eye size, but they work great for me. I also sell complete sets. 4 pronged exacto handle and two needles for $10. I cut and sand all of my needles using a dremmel.

If you are using your own xacto handle, just make sure it has the four pronged tip, and not a two prong. The two pronged tip doesnt actually fit the needles.
