darkening pony?
« on: March 11, 2012, 09:08:00 AM »
Soo?
We have a way to lighten the pony from yellowing.. is there a way to darken the pony toward it's original color?

I randomly cot Italian Cotton Candy who was a bit too light but not super badly.. and I got this "duh" moment and dropped in an deoxy-whatever-bath for two sunny days. I noted it did get a bit lighter but not notebly but when I picked it up I was "uh oh". The "crap!" moment came when I put her head back and noted the color difference! My idea of "restoring" her was not well thought trough and it was only afterwards that I head decked because..lightening.. of course the pony gets..well.. lighter by color.. Herp derp..

So is there anyway get her back to her original color without painting her?

Secondery problem.. I got quite beautiful 83' Majesty and her glitter symbols are amaizing.. but her neck is filled with blue paint from a coloring pen. By experience with Suprise..I can't let him just have a bath in oxyclean as the glitter comes off. Is the sun bathing on window/balcony only way?

If it's blue paint, can you just use acetone to take it off?

Can you suspend just the part of the pony that needs cleaning in the Oxyclean?

If the plastic is stained from the pigment, I don't think oxyclean will help, will it? I suspect sunfading is the best option.

I'm afraid it sounds like sunfading to me.  I hope it helps!

Sunfading is the best way to go with stains. I would sell the Italian Cotton Candy before putting paint on her if you don't want her now that her head doesn't match her body. Painting her would completely devalue her.

Sunfading sounds like the best idea for Majesty! Just use some blue painters tape to cover up her eyes and hair. Cotton Candy might do well with some sunfading as well.

Benzoyl peroxide (and sun) for Majesty's neck, though it might leave it yellow. Better than blue though? No ideas about the CC..
