Sweet Talking Restore Question
« on: March 07, 2012, 09:44:07 AM »
I am working on cleaning up Talk A Lot and she still had the batteries in her from 20 years ago.   I popped them out and its a pretty mess in there. So my question are A) is there a safe way to pop the battery housing out of her neck and B) if not have you ever got one cleaned up and actually had it still work?

Not that I'm an expert, but I got  one in a lot a few years back, and same thing - she had corrosion. I cleaned her compartment out with some coke and then wiped it down with rubbing alcohol. She worked fine.

Oh, I'll be trying to clean the mechanism with coke right away since I have broken Sweet Talkin' pony too!

I don't have one because all the ones I see for sale are broken. D:

Maybe I will consider getting one and trying that trick out.

Call me silly but I didn't even know you could change her batteries until I went to clean mine LOL then I twisted her head and voila! I just used magic eraser to clean her so she doesn't get too wet. Luckily mine wasn't corroded. Hope the coke trick works for you! It's so fun to hear them talking again!

Coke works on car batteries, so I would think that Coke would work well in this too!

Good luck with your cleaning :)

I have used coke for that kind of thing on other toys... give it a go and let us know how it works out :)
