Hair that is making me SCREAM ARGGGH!
« on: February 28, 2012, 07:28:32 PM »
I've rooted my hair with one of the random bags I got from dolly hair last year... and realised. How stiff it is compared to the other hair... Once I was done and had it all glued in.

now I can't keep it down, it sticks out back and blergh, it's being a pain in my toosh, it won't even curl properly so I decided to just leave it short and straight... but it sticks straight out.

Help me before I smack someone. :drunk: :argh:

You tried boiling and wrapping it close to her with a paper towel and rubber bands and letting sit for a couple days?

That's what I would suggest.  It also seems like the shorter the hair, the harder it is to get it to stay down sometimes!

I did that, for 4 days and I was having too much trouble with it longer (I dislike the longer hair anyway and it just seemed silly for a wild pony to have long hair) and I undid it this morning and after and hour or two it was back to being like this.

I had this problem on the last set of :muffin: Pony ponies that I did with katsilk. I had to boil perm them two or three times to get it to stay. So my only suggestion is to try it again and again. If what you did didn't work then increase the heat or actually dunk the mane up to the roots to increase the time. The paint can always be touched up.

Yeah that's some good advice as well as everyone elses, I am trying ti again and I boiled the kettle and dunked it and i've wrapped it, I'll wait two weeks (somehow) this time! Next time I'll check the hair before I root it. I've been having trouble mixing the paint for this custom, it's never the same every time I mix it. It's either too light or too dark and I've lost a fair bit of my shading work (because I forgot to readd it =-=) but I'll know for next time.

I made this for a friend and I want it to be dang perfect before I send it out, but it's putting me behind a bit on my swap custom >_<;

As long as the pony is dry, you shouldn't need to leave it sit there dry for two weeks. Another thing that can help is, if you have a hot desk lamp, let it dry under the desk lamp so it dries hot instead of cold.

woudl the desk work like as good as the sun? It's pretty scorching here in australia at the moment!

Good advice. I'll add one more thing you could try - a clothes iron. That's what I use to style fringes, forelocks etc. so it should work on the rest of the mane, too. Make sure to water the hair first, use the lowest heat setting and preferably place a thin cloth (a handkerchief or something) between the hair and the iron. The principle is the same as in boil perms: heat will make the hair style last when water isn't enough.
