Sculpted ponies before you painted them.
« on: February 27, 2012, 03:30:11 PM »
I have a custom I'd love to do. It's really simple but it requires some light sculpting. I was wondering if you guys have any pictures of your ponies with sculpting on them before they were painted?

And when you did paint them, any tips for colour matching/mixing?

Thanks guys :D

The biggest thing is getting the seams sanded so that they aren't visible before you paint.  If you have problems with application then a primer coat might help. That WIP pic is before I sanded and finished but you get the idea I hope.

Ok. Can't link it from my iPad just yet. Will in a sec. There are pics in my tumblr but you'd have to hunt for them. My banner goes to my tumblr.

Smoothness is really important--the goal is usually to make em look like they were born that way, not sculpted.  :)
