I baked a G4 with no problem, here is how (warning big pictures)

I set my polymer clay/G4 creation in a pan with one centimeter of water.  I think the water helps even out the temperature of the pan or something like that.  I then placed on the middle rack of my cold oven.  Then I turned the oven to the proper temperature.  As usual I subtracted 25 F from the recommended temperature (this may just be a quirk of my oven because things cook a lot better when I do).  When the oven reached the proper temperature I set my timer for one hour, the recommended time for the thickness of the clay.  When time was up I turned off the oven.  I did not remove the pony.

Here I haven’t touched it or move the pan. You can see from the bubbles that there is still water in the pan.

I let the pony stay in the oven and in the pan till it and the water was cool enough to touch.  As you can see no damage to the pony and the clay is completely hardened.

That is pretty neat! I baked a G4 with sculpey at 225* for 45 minutes with the pieces sitting on poly-fil fluff and it came out well too.

Maybe we should make a baking tips thread with our tutorial stuff? This was really helpful!

you should do that, and you have permission to use my tips.
I bet the poly-fil created the same affect as air baking.  I mean the air was able to flow around and under your item keeping it an even temperature.  Kinda what the water did for me but more effective.
I didnt know you could bake the poly-fil fluff at low temps.  It wouldnt have worked for me because I needed to keep the tail flat (I tried curving it up but the pony kept tipping).  I will keep the poly-fil in mind, it is probably much safer to handle then hot water that can slop out and burn.

I usually boil what I sculpt, but this is the first time I have done anything this big (first time I chopped up a ponies back legs to give it a tail).

My husband baked a g4 the other day without any issues, putting her on a folded up sheet of parchment paper and baking her at about 210F for about 10 minutes (he'd only made her some sculpted hair and tail).
