Painting a pony
« on: February 24, 2012, 08:19:35 AM »
I've been working on a custom pony lately, and I'm just about finished with her - just need to use some Sharpie to touch up the eyes. One question, though...is there anything you can put on the paint to make it so it won't come off if it gets wet?

Moving to customs for you :) OL1

If you used acrylics, the paint shouldn't come off simply from getting wet. The only thing I can think of that will get removed is watercolor. (that might actually make for something interesting come to think of it... lol) But you can put a spray sealant over the pony, like Testors Dullcote should work fine. :D

I would recomend that you use acrylic paint for the eyes instead as it seems its better for the pony, but yea its your choise.

To protect your paint you can use varnish or mod podge, it does the work.

many people use mod podge or testors dullcote to seal (testors is a matte finish)

I too would recommend not using a sharpie -- they tend to bleed into the plastic over time. acrylic paint is always the best option with ponies :) I cant wait to see the finished pony!
