I think it's what you want to receive that matters.

In this context I'd say unnatural colours are acceptable, as long as the style is realistic, as opposed to cartoony. I would accept fantasy colours for the simple reason of colour matching; it might be difficult to combine animals with favourite colours in some cases. But let's wait and see what Tiella has to say about this...

I prefer natural colours myself. That should be no problem if my partner is going to use my favourite colours, it'll probably end up all brown, lol. JK. I like colours!
