Color Change G3 FS Star Catcher
« on: May 14, 2016, 06:24:44 PM »
Hi I was yammering on this thread about the color change FS Star Catcher (whose OP is trying to fix the messed up temp color change): http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,378948.msg1540597.html#msg1540597

And I just got mine and I don't know if the color change will remain wacky or not but after doing what I could to clean her up I think she looks really nice so I am putting her up here as a brag!

Star Catcher seems to be working now!  At least on a warm day here....some 78 degrees...here is how she looks right now:

I'm really liking her!  Problem seems solved....maybe....anyway though her paint job isn't child-applied she is still plenty scuffed up from play and has a few little pink spots that seem like child-applied ink, so I am very happy with her! (I like well loved toys!)

Here are the rest of the before/during/after pics all jumbled up:

Here is the ebay listing (look how pink!  I thought it was a child-applied paint job...):

For the record, I put her in a bucket of strong Tide Free with cold water for an hour or two on each side after swishing her around in it a little, then scrubbed her with a toothbrush and Ajax with-bleach cleanser and used conditioner and a comb and a little bit of flat iron on the hair and she began turning white where I was holding her while scrubbing and after drying overnight I put her in front of a little electric heater for a few minutes to de-pink the last few spots (the ear insides and the corner of the mouth especially) and I then touched her with some frozen meat confirming she can still turn pink.

I wonder what mine will look like over the next days and nights! a little exciting no?  Unpredictable!  Enjoy!

She's lovely. I'm glad you found her. A few posts down is someone looking for her. I love the irony.

Edited to add Thanks Tak!  I forgot to say thanks...

There's another one (not color change) on eBay for like $30 I think in a box.  Mine was less.

I put her in my coolest room with a thermometer and she's at 68 degrees F right now, with no sign of blushing so far...

I figure if she makes it a couple days inside without blushing I'll try her at outside temps to see how she does.  She does turn pink in contact with ice so the issue is whether she stays white like she is supposed to....see her ebay pics where she is all pinked out, I thought that was child-applied paintjob and when she came in white (other than being filthy) I was bummed until someone explained she is supposed to be color change and now I like her white...the color change was pretty weird while working on her, all blotchy and stuff...but she whitened up by warming her up gently and she's staying white mostly so she is mostly working as expected.  I guess she came with some sort of freezable pens that are supposed to let you draw on her...pretty cooool....

In the other thread, Lore-Lei drew my Star Catcher and posted the image:  here it is!:

Here you go. Had a lot of fun drawing her. Unfortunately we ran out of pure white paper so I had to used a recycled paper paper. (If someone wants me to pop this over to the art forum do tell me and I'll make a seperate thread for it)

Thanks so uch Lore-Lei for immortalizing my Star Catcher!

She looks really pretty. I like how you have styled her hair.  The pic so you can see it from the back is really neat :)

Congrats on snagging her :frolic:
