Any tips on selling Barbies?
« on: July 10, 2015, 04:35:37 PM »
Hi all!  I scored a huge lot of Barbies on Craigslist and am on my way to pick them up.  It was a great deal and I'm super excited!  The only thing is I'm fairly unfamiliar with Barbies so I'm not sure what I'm doing.  (There were more then just Barbies in the lot, that's what drew me to it. ;) )

Does anyone here flip barbies?  What's a good way to do it?   I'm acquiring about 50 dolls plus a bag of accessories and a Barbie house and furniture.  Any advice would be awesome.  ^.^

Well, I just went and googled more or less what I had and kept the MIB pictures that appeared with the items I had. I have quite a few pics I collected that contain most of the Barbie sets I own, so I know what accessories go with who. That's a good way to group things up :)

What era/s are they from? I am not an expert but I kinda sorta collect them (using the term lightly as I mostly just buy ones I think are pretty second hand and occasionally go after clothing for them online - but I've done bits of research here and there). From what I can tell, it can be pretty hard to profit off 80's and up dolls (I don't really like Barbies older than that so I have no clue on them) though there could be some choice rare ones I don't know about! I imagine if you have their outfits and they are in really nice shape, you may be able to resell some for a little more than a few dollars.

I have sold some newer Barbies with success - people seem to really go for the ones with the Model Muse type bodies.
