It's not just Chinatown stores and dodgy Ebay sellers that have bootlegs. I've heard that many "Local" anime goods stores stock bootlegs (whether knowingly or not), and bootlegs are often sold at conventions, etc, so you have to always be vigilant!

Getting a good deal doesn't always mean a bootleg, it could just be that you picked a good time to grab that Keldeo or that the seller didn't start the bidding higher because they didn't think it was worth so much ^^ Whilst he might seem flawed, the sad thing about exclusive merchandise, is that the higher price point and exclusivity doesn't always mean the product is better quality than any other mass-produced merchandise.
Idly searching for: loose, good condition G4 Blossomforth, Starbeam Twinkle, Plumsweet. TTM Celestia doll's wings Within UK or EU only, please.
Will also take in Pretty Pony Club (UK magazine) fakies.

Yup, bootlegs definitely get sold at conventions, that's where I picked up my Puella Magi Madoka Magica figures.  I think they're supposed to be a dupe of the Nendoroids but they're bigger and they don't look very well put together, but I still think they're cute and cost less than half the price of the legit Nendoroid  figures.

For display purposes they're just fine  ^.^  I prefer collecting the the bigger character figures and would rather spend my money on the official ones of those.

Here's my officials  :)

Also, your Keldeo is real!  Some Pokedolls sell for really cheap, I got my Eeveelutions for super cheap!
Here they are squished in with my other Pokemon center plush

I totally agree that if you're happy with the bootleg then I don't see an issue.  I bought a Sailor Mercury Figuarts off of eBay a while back however and she turned out to be fake, (the price was a bit too good to be true, I should have known better) but the Sailor Moon Figuarts are apparently awful and you can't even pose them properly, so I just decided to return her instead.

The Figurearts rarely get good reviews from what I've seen, and I recently saw the legit (I think) Mars in person and eh...I'm glad I didn't chase a per-order for Sailor Mercery (it sucks that Bandai has the licence, really). I'm not a big fan of jointed figures, as I find the joints often stick out and look very ugly, and these were no exception.

Those Madoka prize figures are awesome :D I have a set of Banpresto ones that prolly cost me around or under £15 each, including postage (and they are legit and actually really good quality). If the series you like has prize figures, they are definitely the way to go, or Nendoroids. It's very easy to pick up many Nendoroids for cheaper than bootlegs - My Madoka Nendoroid was second-hand but like-new and cost me I think £20 after shipping. Bootlegs tend to be around £10-£15 and considering the gap in quality, I'm glad I paid the extra for the real thing. Thing is, with figures you generally tend to get what you pay for (I would double-check the reputation of the company first, there are a few that tend to disappoint more often than not). My Alter figures cost me upwards of £45 each after postage, depending on how good customs was to me, and they are stunning.

I bought the Sailor Moon Figuarts, because it was the first figure of the new merchandise available and she looked great and as a huge moonie naturally I wanted her.

She a first edition so I decided to keep her MIB, with the intention to buy another to open later, but with all the scouts being released at varying prices (especially the outer senshi) I decided against it, and at this point the Figuarts Zero had been released which I wanted more because I prefer non-posable figures.  I was just going to save up for the Zeros as the first Sailor Moon one seemed reasonably priced .. and then they released the the rest of the inner senshi.  Seriously, £100+ for Sailor Mercury, Venus, etc, not a chance!  :drunk:
As much as I'd love to have them that is crazy amounts of money, so I'm hoping they drop in value after a while once they've all been released.

You're so right about prize figures, they're like a budget option but they still look beautiful!  The build quality is amazing.  I picked up my Homura prize figure at London MCM this year for £22 and knew I had to have the set right away! (unfortunately Homura and one other Madoka, which had slight damage so I never took, were the only ones I could find at the con)  I found the other 4 on eBay from a seller in Japan for a great price and bought them in a bundle, so I saved a bit on the figures and got combined postage rates.  I managed to get the whole set for under £100.  ^.^

I was so happy to see the release of the Banpresto Sailor Moon prize figures.  I'm going to buy them now instead of the Figuarts or the Figuarts Zero collection, for now anyway, in an ideal world I could afford them all!  I'll no doubt be able to buy the whole prize figure set for the price of one Figuarts Zero!

There are sets of mini Sailor Senshi but...they are randomly packed from two types - a regular expression, and a winking expression. And the winking expression is kinda...meh. I'm hoping that Banpresto's Moon prize will mean we'll see the others. I want a Mercury and Venus so bad but I'm not paying the prices for Bandai's exclusives

I did buy an expensive Ultimate Madoka/Godoka scale figure, and I think she was worth every penny. I have this one:

(only downside is her wings keep falling out grrr) I couldn't resist that sweet face of hers. The other upside to prize figures is they have more interesting poses than the more expensive GSC ones, especially Sayaka. I loathe that piece of art where she's doing the aeroplane arms as so many figures and merchandise seems to copy and ughhhh those poses are so dull and flat, there are so many poses from the anime to pick from and they picked that one...

The cheap Pokedolls are likely factory rejects. This subject came up frequently on PKMNCollectors. Rejects are of much higher quality than bootlegs, but they're not 100% up to par with the Pokemon Center's incredibly high standards.

Often, the flaws are really minor. The sale of these items is a huge grey area, much like some of the Pony things we see on TaoBao.

I have a factory reject Flareon plush. I'll have to post pictures here when I get home!

Kurama might be a fakie as well since it was $30 and that included shipping from China.
