How to make a special Mother's Day?
« on: April 26, 2014, 07:07:32 AM »
The relationship between my mother and me is pretty bitter right now, so I hope things get better this day. But I just don't know what to do on Mother's Day. What do you do?

I am not really that sure either. My mom and I don't do much anymore on it. To me I don't need one day to celebrate my mom.  I do it everyday!

I usually make my Mom a card, and either make her a cake or something or take her out for a meal.  It really depends whether I am close enough to actually see her!  I think Moms appreciate hand-made things, though.  And to hear you say that you appreciate them, probably.

I usually just get my mother something small - chocolates and a Lotto ticket for example.  IMO it's more about the thought than the actual present :)

What are her interests?

She loves certain singers like Camilo Sesto (hum... not sure if you ever heard of him...) and 50's movies and stuff like Grease.. she also loves purple things, Betty Boop and Snoopy merch (but had never read their comics... I'm her little comic freak XD)

We had our Mother's Day in the uk back in March, but what I did was made her a handmade card using photoshop (it was humorous and featured cats, which we both love) and bought her a very expensive eyeshadow as she said that she hated her cheap drugstore ones (she never really spends money on herself, so I decided I would buy her something of beautiful quality).

I would suggest making a card yourself, and maybe flowers and chocolates? Whatever is within your budget. My relationship with my mum can be strained too, we live together, just the two of us, and I'm 19 and still in college, and I guess I'm not the easiest person to live with :( but that being said, make the most of the day, and try to let her know you do still love her. Do something thing from the heart. Maybe make her a mixtape of her favourite music and songs?
