   Why not offer to take her, explaining that she's something you collect, and replace her with a few new toys for them?  All they really need is something for the kiddos, and they may not want them playing with ~30 year old plastic anyway.

   I think offering a new toy to replace it makes it great for them and you

and maybe offer a different pony in place until you can return her? maybe a more daycare appropriate one like the bigger half plush ones with brushable hair..

I say leave it be.  Back in the day, my daycare had G1 Gusty.  Then, one day, she was gone.  I was miserable.

Some kid may LOVE that mangy DnW Baby Cuddles.  You never know.

my church's nursery has a G1 ponies and a couple G3.  one of these days I'm gonna sneak in and give them an express spa treatment.

I agree with LittleSpiffy That little pony may be a little tatty but she could be some child's favourite toy at the day care.

Why not ask the day care, if they ever have a toy clear out and Cuddles may be heading for the recycling bin to let you know and you would happily rehome her

If it were me, I would offer a replacement G3 or G4 for her. They might be more excited to get a newer, cleaner pony to replace the old tattered G1. It never hurts to ask at least! Maybe the daycare peeps will even know if that particular pony is normally played with or not? I wouldn't want to take some kid's fav toy of course, that's why you can ask the workers if they are aware of anyone paying attention to it.
