Has anyone tried Bikram Yoga?

This is the one where you perform yoga in a heated room.
Anyone tried it?

I do it all the time. The first time I was not prepared. It's very hot and the class can be quite intense. Feeling dizzy or nauseous is totally normal the first few times you go and you can just lay your head down. Prepare to sweat and let those toxins out. Bring two water bottles.

Oh and enjoy the greatest sleep of your life afterwards.

I've done it a few times.  It can be intense but afterwards you feel brilliant!

I have never tried Yoga at all. I do want to give it a try someday. I have 16 years of ballet, Jazz and lyrical class under my belt. I just got back into working out and trying to get toned again. Not looking to loose much weight. What does Yoga do for the body?

My old climbing gym has a Bikram studio attached to it.  I've never tried it myself (I enjoy yoga, but prefer to be at room temperature when I'm doing it ;)), but the people coming out of the studio always look well wiped out.  Apparently you can get deeper into a lot of positions when it's hot - that would make me nervous, but people love it, so hey. :D

It's good for improving flexibility and balance - I'm into endurance sports, and I find there's a huge difference in stiffness when I'm not doing yoga.  Depending on the type of yoga there's some decent strength work as well.

For me that's not an issue as I'm scary flexible & double jointed.

That sounds unpleasant. I think I'll stick to things with air conditioning.

I adore yoga, but I hate being unnecessarily sweaty (which is ridiculous, I realize, considering how much time I spend at the gym).  I haven't tried Bikram personally, but a lot of my personal trainer friends swear it's amazing.

I don't do it officially, but I frequently practice yoga, and where I live it's usually well over 80 degrees (the highest temp. outside I can recall in the last year was over 140 F) and it's hard to keep the temp in the house below 80... so I usually do yoga in the extreme heat anyway. ;)
