Hello, hello !
« on: August 13, 2013, 01:03:44 AM »
I'm Darian, I'm still just about 30 and I've got an almost 2 year old daughter.

As I kid I had a reasonably large collection of my little pony toys, pretty much all the early playsets and a large collection of ponies.  Aside from that I also own a kindly, 19 year old grey mare called Musti who I ride 2 to 3 times a week.  So of course my daughter was quickly introduced to all things horsey and had her very first "ride" not too long ago.  Since then all she could take about was "pony".

At that point I remembered all my ponies stored up in the attic at my parents house.  So I went up there and took a few things down for her, like Dreamcastle and a few ponies.  She's a bit too young to really play with it but she has fun carrying the ponies around in her stroller.  (She sleeps with Night Glider in her bed ;-) )

I was surprised how good the ponies still looked, though the plastic on the castle has aged and their manes are in need of a good detangle and brush.  ;-)

I then discovered the new cartoon series and really liked the art style and story lines, my little girl likes it as well so we watch them together now :-)  It kinda rekindled the MLP love I had as a child and now I get to share it my little girl!

Give it about another year and she can start her own collection.  Though she's more of a Scootaloo while I was a Posey and quite careful with my toys ;-)

Thanks guys!

I'm slightly guilty of encouraging the pony love with the little one though, but hey.  I think we look great with matching Rainbow Dash t-shirts.  At least she's small enough not to be embarrased yet...  :hope:

I went out to buy her (and me... really...  ) a few G4 ponies but found that the offer in my local toyshops is pretty poor.  They all seemed to have tinsel in their hair which I dislike probably because I have memories of being little and trying to brush Princess Dawn's hair smooth and failing.  Perhaps you have some shop suggestions Aquarel ?  :)

Actually, the best part of my rekindled MLP interest has been the memories attached to some of my ponies.  Planning to dig through my parents attic some more and find all of my ponies, clean them up and take some pictures.  Seeing a picture of baby Moondancer brought back some warm fuzzy feelings.  I always took special care of that one.  Sadly I've only found about 5 ponies so far, while I had several dozen...

Maybe I can requisition the spare bedroom/office as MLP display area...

Welcome to the Arena

It's so nice your daughter shares your love of ponies and horses.  I am currently pregnant with a baby boy so I don't think I'll be passing my collection on any time soon.  Enjoy the forums :D

Some bigger Blokker stores have an older gamma of the G4s, you might find some you like there. Also Bart Smith's? I think I saw some pinkies and fluttershys there without tinsel but not sure. It's mainly the crystal empire series we have around here now.
