Westcliff Collection Stuffed Animals
« on: October 31, 2013, 01:32:20 PM »
I'm having a collectible conundrum, and figured I'd better turn to the experts for some advice! ;)

My most beloved stuffed animal, and constant non-human companion, is a pastel blue rabbit from a line of plushes called "The Westcliff Collection". Out of curiosity, I tried googling the company hoping for a website showing several of their stuffed animals, but only came up with ebay results.

Has anyone else heard of this company and could offer some info?

I'd love to but unfortunately she's been so well loved, that she doesn't really look like her original self (and I don't have a camera readily available  ). But I was able to find a photo of the same type of rabbit only this one is yellow:

Mine's pretty much the exact same, except the little flower was held between her paws once upon a time. Aside from that and her ears falling off every once and while, she's held up mostly intact for 23 years.

Aww, your much-loved friend sounds adorable.  As they say about teddy bears - love is allowed to wear your fur out a little :lovey:

I haven't head of the rabbits you are talking about but I hope you manage to track down some more information on them :)

I'm beginning to think, that MA. The tags just say "Made in Korea", but I wonder if they were only sold on the East Coast?

I wish I had thought to look this up sooner. Just from what I've seen on Ebay, they made some adorable plushes when they were in business!

I had a bunny like that when I was a kid! A friend of mine gave her to me for my birthday one year... mine was aqua with a white tummy and she also had the pastel colored felt flower between her paws like you describe. I no longer have her or I would post a picture. I called her Bun-Bun... I'm so original! LOL.

I grew up in Massachusetts, if that helps.

I have several from childhood - a male lion, a lion cub, a fox, a wee little unicorn, a seal pup and a fawn.  Some say Made in Korea, some say Made in Indonesia, but the tag also says Scarborough NY, so maybe they were an East Coast thing like you think (I grew up in northern VT/NH).  I can get pics tomorrow if you want :)

I'm a life long stuffed animal collector. I've been checking the tags on stuffed animals since I learned to read. (My grandma taught me how to check for marking on my toys.) I've never heard of "The Westcliff Collection". The quality and style look similar to other stuffed animals that were sold in stores like Wal-Mart/K-mart/Target in the late '80s - early '90s. It could have been a regional company. It would help if I could see the tag.....

*runs to check Ebay really quick*

WAIT!!!!! I *do* have one of their stuffed animals! I have this little guy from my childhood.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-stuffed-The-Westcliff-Collection-plush-BABY-TIGER-CUB-/150723399030?pt=Stuffed_Animals_US&hash=item2317d08d76

I'm pretty sure that I have this one too.

My tiger (who I named Shere Khan Jr.) was a Christmas present from my aunt and uncle in Montana. I have no idea where they bought it, but it was somewhere in their area. So that rules out a regional company. But I do believe that they were a much smaller company. I remember that after I received my Shere Khan Jr that I wanted more animals from this brand, but I didn't have any luck finding them.

The kangaroo (if it's the same one I remember having...) came from a garage sale or thrift store so who knows where it was originally bought from. The rabbit that you pictured just SCREAMS Easter. It was probably marketed as an Easter gift. That would be my guess.

I hope this helps at least a little.

Oh my goodness Freeindeed that's awesome! If it makes you feel any better, mine's named "Blue Rabbit" and has always been that, so no originality here either. :p

Thanks for all the pics and watchful eyes, folks! It makes me so happy just to hear other people's stories. Sailorstitch, I did get mine around Easter at an Ames, which was similar to Kmart and eventually went out of business in 2002.

I think I have the same blue/aqua bunny, with the flower in it's paws. I think I got it from my grandma, so I'm sure I would've kept it, but it's likely buried in my parents' basement in one of my tubs.
