Regret
« on: August 08, 2013, 11:02:00 AM »
A few months ago I decided to get a tattoo of my rat her paw print.

The tattoo itself is very nice, but I regret the fact that I didn't choose the place more careful.

I wanted it under my bra-band, on my right side.

The tattooer placed the stencil on me at the right place (to bad I didn't see it back then), but I wanted it placed more forward, more to my breast.

Back home I noticed it was placed a little too much forward. It stretches when I move my arms. I really dislike that.

I'm still not sure what I'm going to do.

First option: remove it by laser. Maybe after that I'll take a new one, placed more careful. Maybe I wont take a new one, being to afraid that it will be misplaced again.

Second option: taking another rat paw print tattoo of my other girl, and place it where the first one should have been, see if I like it better then, and when I still feel bad about the first one, remove it later.

Just wanted to share and get it out of my head...

That is such a cute idea for a tattoo! If i were you, i would probably go for option #2 as I see three options after that:

1) the new tattoo is made right and you love it and want to keep it, but it so happens that combined with that one, your previous tattoo also looks awesome and doesn't bother you anymore, so you decide to keep both.

2) you love the new tattoo but you still want to get rid of the first one, in that case, you at least have one awesome tattoo.

3) the other tattoo fails as well and you really hate them both now, so at least you can get rid of them at the same time? (not being an expert i don't know if they would advise you to do them one by one, but it would make sense to remove them at the same time)

Getting tattoos removed is an extremely time consuming and painful experience. It would be much easier to either cover the one you don't like, or as vintergatan said, maybe if you get the second one, you'll like them both together.

I would recommend getting the second one, or giving a little more thought and perhaps coming up with another way to either add to it so you like it, or cover it with something else

I tried getting a tattoo removed once, it didnt work. Turns out Im allergic () to laser and my skin just reacted really weird. So now you dont just see the tattoo, you can also feel it with your hands..
Oh, and like mkia9 wrote, it is extremely painful! I ended up doing a cover-up instead. ;)

A cover up is no option for me, because the only thing that's wrong with my tattoo is the placement. So covering it up will be just a different picture on the exact same wrong place.

I don't care about the pain to be honest. Since I had my car accident and thought I might die I don't care much about pain, at least not about things like this.

It's just a tiny tattoo (2cm) so it's pretty "cheap" to remove. When I get a second paw print which I wont like either it will be more expensive to remove.

I found a clinic near by who do laser removal, so I think I'll make an appointment, just to get informed.

@Baby Mischief: I didn't know people could be allergic to laser! Thanks for sharing your story. ( I'm pretty curious about your tattoo now :$ )

Haha, now it is a lotusflower :)
I do not know if they call it allergic, but my skin reacted really strong and they told me that some people have this problem and that I wouldnt be able to remove it. I did manage to fade it a little though, took me 3 or 4 times. But then I gave up, because after every time, the tattoo was "standing out" from my skin a little more... It was like it lifted from the skin, I cant explain it better.. :(

If I were you, I'd wait a bit longer before doing anything. You might start to like it ;)

^ That's not bad advice, sweet_berry.  Could you maybe get the tattooist to stencil a second tattoo on and leave it for a couple of days?  That way you have more of a chance to be sure it is in the right position before you make it permanent.

Perhaps talk to another tattooist and ask their advice on it. :)

I'd give it some more time.  I've had a tattoo removed and I do NOT recommend it.
