I'm not a mom but my parents would always take me to Kohl's, Target, and Old Navy :)

My daughter isn't in middle school yet but I find that Target has really cute clothes and sometimes you can score them from the markdown rack. Kohls and JCP usually have cute things too, just keep an eye out for the sales.

We always went to the mall during the tax free weekend because that's when all the sales were.

I'm not sure if you have ShopKo and Kohl's, but those were two of the places my mom always took us.  ShopKo tends to have pretty good deals and really cute clothes.  Besides that, Target and generic mall stores (for clothes) like Debb and Hot Topic (in my case. LOL!)

The problem I'm having is that she is small for her age, ( size 10 girls) and I am trying to get her big girl looking clothes since she is off to middle school. sigh... And she has a funky fun sense of style lol... she just LOVES the colored skinny jeans, she wants them in EVERY color... and they are expensive... $20+ for a pair of jeans for a kid seems high to me. ( maybe I just need to get used to the fact that she's not a baby anymore!)

Kohls and Target seem to have very cute clothes...most of the girl fashions there look to be simply smaller versions of the tween/teen styles, too.

My boyfriend's daughter is quite a bit older than yours (going into college this fall), but she's also very small for her age.  She buys a lot of her stuff at Aeropostale and rue21, both of which have clothes in very small sizes, so your girl may even fit into some of those.

Well my daughter is going to be in 4th grade and she is very easy to shop for. She loves shirts with ponies on them. We get most of her things at the second hard store in my town. They stuff is great condition with even greater price! They are having a 20% sale to on top of the prices!

I do not go to any of the big names stores. I never got clothes there when I was little either.

She loves what she has and loves to save and be able to get more for the same price.

Lots of luck on your shopping :)

For Ember, who is my girlie girl, we do a lot of Gymboree, Crazy 8 and some Justice (in moderation, she likes cute not trendy). I know how to get good deals when I shop in those stores, so we never pay more than $20 for an outfit. ;)

For Briar who's only a preschooler, lol, mostly Crazy 8. She's too skinny for Gymboree to fit her. :P As long as it is blue, has a cat or a pony on it and is comfy, she's thrilled.

We are homeschooling this year though, so "back to school" shopping isn't happening in the same way. ;)

Right now Target has their skinny colored jeans and khakis on sale for $10.  :)

I tend to shop all over the place - Target, Kohl's, JCP, Old Navy, Crazy 8 and Gap Kids.  My oldest daughter is super tall and skinny, so the slim skinny jeans at Old Navy work best for her.  So it's a combination of the best price and best fit.

Thank you guys for all of your input! I think I am agonizing over this WAY too much... I am stuck in that I WANT her to be a kid as long as possible, but I don't want her to be ostracized by her peers in middle school. If she had it her way she would be wearing Monster High Tshirts everyday.... Kids these days in general seem to be so grown... Mine still plays with her toys... I guess I'm just worried.
