New old fan

Hey to everyone,

Well basically, I am a new old fan, I don't know how common this is! When I was little, I was OBSESSED with MLP, I had so many of the toys however I guess like most people I grew out of them as I got older - most probably because I was too desperately trying to fit in with all the girls around me, rather than because I actually wanted to!

So now I am in my final year of university - I have to thank FIM for this, as seeing an image of the new G4 'Spike' made me think 'Oh my god what have they done to him!'  (I am not a FIM hater btw, I just haven't yet had the courage to give it a chance!) and feel really nostalgic about the old series  - and suddenly I have managed to rekindle my old interest. These past few days I have been watching the old G1 series non-stop, with all the songs that were locked away right in the back of my memory suddenly released, and somehow it feels as though I have managed to reconnect with my truest and deepest self, like it is has been something that I have been suppressing all this time and now I feel so much more complete for it.

Also right now I am so glad that I didn't do what I was going to at one point and sell all my ponies! Apparently I have a couple of rare-ish ones that are quite valuable now, like the big brother pony 'Sundance', who I might've given to a charity shop not too long ago! Thank God I didn't though - perhaps underneath it all I was still so attached to them that I just couldnt bring myself to let them go!

Anyhow, that's my story, and that's why I'm here right now. I'm kind of interested to see how many people have done what I've done and refound their love for MLP as they've grown older!

I remember when I 'grew out' of my G1 ponies too.  I think my girls spend 3-4 years in the closet before I pulled them out and put them back on my bookshelf.  Now they have been joined by a few hundred more, lol!

Hi! And welcome to the arena!

I'm a reconnected pony spirit too and had TONS of ponies back in the 80s (I'm old....) lol. Unfortunately I did loose all my ponies and even though I never quite got over it - life went on. I had a few shocks and ewwwws and aaawwes through the years and ended up buying a DVD set of old series about 7 years ago. My first daughter is now 4 and I bought her 1st pony (G3.5 Rainbow Dash) shortly after she was born but its not until lately she found the pony love. She got a G4 vehicle play set in 2012 and a couple after then now last week a online friend who's a member here got me badly hooked into the love again! I'm so far gone! I came here thinking I'd get DD a few G3 ponies... Yeah right! I have around 30 ponies (mostly G4!) coming in the mail and a few play sets too! So good luck! Keep a good hold of your $$ cus they go flyin!
