Sailor moon and magical girl anime fans: do you watch the Pretty Cure series?

I love Precure! I agree that Heartcatch is the strongest season, like many other people it was my introduction and gateway into Precuredom. Now I've seen all of the series (except for the portion of GoGo that hasn't been subbed yet) and movies and am currently watching Doki Doki.

Along with Heartcatch, the other season I really love is Splash Star. And my favorite Cure is Moonlight, then Sunshine, Muse, and Peace.

I am a huge magical girl fan in general. My favorites are Sailor Moon (of course), Cardcaptor Sakura, Princess Tutu and Ojamajo Doremi. The common theme of the genre, femininity being a source of power, is one I absolutely love.

Those are my favorite series too!!! Especially Ojamajo Doremi! We are anime besties!!!

Some seasons are better than others! Definitely give it a go. I've been watching since Max Heart and its kind of my guilty pleasure on Sundays

Anime is soo diverse..and soo much of it is out there.  Youre going ot have to give a bit of a backstory, its not one that ive heard before

The pretty cure series is the girls equivalent to the super sentai series for boys in Japan (like power rangers). They're actually made by the same company if im not mistaken (like transformers and ponies).  Each season features a new group of 14 year old girls that become Pretty Cures to fight the bad guys.

For the most part it is very "monster of the week" with bits of plot sprinkled through. Some seasons, in my opinion, are better than others. There is always a magical land that is being threatened that needs saving and Pretty Cures on earth are created by "fairies" (the inhabitants of the land) to help save and protect it.  Each season usually has some kind of loose theme like flowers or fruit or fairy tales. 

It is very trope filled like most magical girl series (like Tokyo mew mew and sailor moon). The leader is always pink and strong willed with a pure heart, the blue one is always the smart one, etc. lol.  Every season the show puts the most emphasis on the power of friendship.

I dunno I love it, I guess you have to be into that kind of thing though.

I haven't started watching doki doki yet but i'm a little behind on my anime of late lol. One of my absolute fave anime girls series is Mermaid Melody I adore that series. Luchia is possibly one of my fave characters from anime

I haven't watched that one yet! But I do have the mangas for it and haven't read it either haha (my collection is too big).

I'd highly recommend it It is certainly one of my faves. Have you read/seen full moon wo sagashite?? It's not magical girl in the traditional crime fighting, monster beating up sense, but it is still magical girl

Full Moon is awesome. I have only seen the first four episodes of the anime, but I have read the entire manga and it's very emotional. I think I nearly cried while reading it. It's defintely one that's due for a re-read.

The anime isn't quite as good as the manga, but it still made me cry in places lol. It certainly has some very emotional parts to it
